Thai to Go will always hold a special place in my heart as it was where my partner and I had our very first date so I am surprised to find that despite frequenting Thai To Go numerous times since 2018 I have never written a review.
Beyond the sentimentality, this is hands down my absolute favourite, number one, go to place for really good quality Thai food in Melbourne. The food is constantly and consistently delicious. Seemingly uncomplicated dishes but always full of flavour. My favourites will always be a Green Chicken Curry and a Pad Thai but I was delighted to see and try newer additions to the menu on our most recent dine in, such as the Golden Breadcrumbed Scallops (pictured), incredible!
While we dine in restaurant at Thai To Go at least once a year (on the anniversary of our first date), we also order take away from Thai To Go every few months. I am always pleased to find that the quality, whether dining in or out always remains the same. I am also impressed at how reasonablely priced everything has always been.
Dining in at Thai to Go is such a lovely experience. The venue itself is comfortable, laid back and unpretentious with a mismatch of furniture and quirky art. However, it is the owner Ting that makes this restaurant truly remarkable. Generous, welcoming and warm. I am always impressed that Ting remembers our anniversary and goes out of her way to make our experience special. Both my partner and I work in customer-facing jobs so a very aware of what constitutes as good customer service. Ting and her staff are definitely that and more. Absolutely fantastic!
Highly recommend! For a first date, a special occasion or simply a day...
Read moreThe owner was super rude. We ordered seafood fried rice to go but while waiting we decided to just eat there. The owner said it’s already packed and we cannot eat inside the restaurant. I asked if she can just put it on a plate but she just refused. Worst restaurant experience ever!
edit: The owner's relentless response proves how they care very little about customer experience. We were asked to sit at this said table until the food is made and there were only a couple of people dining at the restaurant. Why would you ask if we wanted to dine in if you didn't have anymore tables? I am amazed at how bad you are taking this review to even go to the expense of lying on a public review system.
Also I didn't know it interferes with a 'busy' schedule to transfer a fried-rice in a plastic box onto a plate. I simply bought food from you and respectfully asked whether we can dine in. Respect is a two way street but I don't see any reason to...
Read moreUnfortunately this isn’t authentic Thai food, pretty watered down version. 3 flavour fish was super sweet and drowned in Thai red chilli sauce (the kind you buy from grocery store), roti is like the kind you can get frozen from the Asian store, satay sauce is also not authentic and taste like it comes from a can/ bottle, som tom was pretty bland, not spicy/ sour. The best thing was probably the coconut rice. I really wanted to like this place but was pretty disappointed. Not for me (Asian palate that loves authentic Thai food). 1 star...
