The George Lounge — Restaurant in Melbourne

AVOID USING THIS VENUE FOR PRIVATE PARTIES. We hired this venue for a client party and was bitterly disappointed. We invested a lot of money into our entertainers, did a sound check for both the guest DJ and a singer and sound check was great and both DJ and vocalist were happy after spending a bit of time perfecting sound levels. Bump in was tricky as manager was not available at time we had scheduled. Once all guests arrived and DJ commenced, we could not get sound volume right, DJ was frustrated as sound was low and not workable for a dancefloor. When our vocalist commenced his act an hour later, the microphone also had volume issues, and he was walking around the venue singing it was a complete flop as volume was way too low. Manager now where to be found and staff said it was at full volume. DJ who is competent at all things AV could not get anymore volume and said someone had turned the master control down. We had no choice but to put up with it. At one stage only one bar person behind the bar with 2 people deep waiting to be served, did notice that once staff door opened the other bar staff were having their own private party out back. We were promised venue until midnight but at 10pm we were being pushed out as manager then returned to state that we were not ordering enough drinks to warrant staying open. My favourite part of the night was when I was outside waiting for my Uber and the staff were cleaning up the volume was cranked up to the max and volume was exactly what we had tested at our sound check during the day. I had my 30th at The George Lounge and I just wanted to say the biggest thank you to the team for making it the most memorable night ever.

Everything went exactly how I envisioned and the guys were incredible. I started planning my birthday the day after I turned 29 because I was just that excited about it. Trying to find a venue was harder than I anticipated and believe me I looked at so many places but none of them gave me that “wow, this is the place” moment but when I walked into The George I had that moment and already started seeing where I wanted everything to go. I just knew I had to have my birthday there.

I have to give a huge shout-out to Craig especially. He was just the best. He went above and beyond for me, made sure everything was taken care of and whatever I asked he helped me with. He told me to have fun because everything was under control and he made sure I wasn't stressed during the night, and stressed I wasn't and happy I definitely was. My parents absolutely loved him and my mum especially couldn’t stop talking about him.

His service was impeccable and he is a big part of why I was so happy on the night and why my birthday went as smoothly as it did. And he did the best job cutting my cake, when I asked him he never looked happier and was excited to do the honors.

I highly recommend The George Lounge for anyone’s next event because you will get the best service you could ever ask for and a really smooth experience from start to finish.

Behind the scenes, we had the dream team of Courtney, Mary, and Sarah. These ladies were nothing short of spectacular in helping me plan the event. They patiently guided me through every decision, big or small, and were always just an email or call away whenever I needed advice.

The venue itself was stunning, with an atmosphere that perfectly blended elegance and fun. The ambient lighting, stylish decor, and cozy seating areas made for a setting that our guests couldn’t stop raving about.
