The Pancake Parlour District Docklands — Restaurant in Melbourne

Came in this morning to enjoy a nice family breakfast as we haven’t been to pancake parlour in a while and aren’t from the city. I was looking forward to this meal because I remember how flavourful and delicious the dishes were.

We were seated and waited about 25 minutes to be seen, we had to approach the kitchen area and ask one of the staff to send someone to our table. There was also no water brought to the table, I didn’t know it was a thing to have to ask for water.

We ordered and all was well, until one of the staff brought the wrong drinks to our table. In saying this, all the staff looked disengaged and distracted, and were all chatting away in a circle behind the bar. There seemed to be only a handful of people doing their job right and the others were just dragging their feet around aimlessly.

The restaurant was somewhat busy so it was understandable that we waited for 45 minutes for our food however we were served semi warm pancakes that looked nothing like what the description on the menu said. When you attend a restaurant, you want to be served something that looks and tastes amazing. It literally looked and tasted like something i could’ve just made at home. In addition to this, we could see people in the kitchen using their fingers to assemble the food.

Everyone’s food had been served except for my dads and we had all pretty much finished our breakfast. We saw his food sitting on top of the bar waiting to be taken out and multiple staff had looked at it and walked straight passed it. My dad had to then approach the bar and ask for his food.

We went up to the counter to pay, we asked that an item be taken off the bill as it wasn’t even served to us. The staff member said that we are would receive a 20% discount but we were already paying a 10% surcharge as it was a weekend.

I’ve been to many pancake parlour’s across the city but this one stood out. When I went in the restaurant there were just about 5-6 people hence I decided to sit on a table as I just wanted a hot chocolate. I ordered it through their app while waiting. I had my bike helmet with me that was on the table. The manager looked in a rush and just came by asking if I was waiting for an uber order (thinking I was a delivery person) I said no I have placed an order. She said they have stopped taking orders. I was confused as it was 9pm and they close at 10pm. She was blatantly rude saying they are not taking anymore orders and why did I place an order. Then she asked what I ordered. I said just a hot chocolate. She said it’s fine we can make that. I waited and within 5 mins the server came with the hot chocolate. It was nothing but warm cup of milk topped with whipped cream. When I asked the manager if this is hot chocolate she was a bit riled up and said yes that is what bueno hot chocolate is. I confronted with the picture on their app and said there’s no hazelnut sauce or Bueno chocolate. In all this there were two people who walked in and the manager to my surprise welcomed them and gave them a seat. The manager who 10 mins ago told me to my fave that they are not taking anymore orders ? I then asked for a refund as it was a very bad experience. She continued to apologise for the hot chocolate and said we will re make it for you. But by then it was too late to make up for her behaviour. I just wanted a refund so I could gtfo. I just don’t know if this was racism or just because I had a helmet she thought I was an uber driver and didn’t deserve to be...

After shopping at Costco we decided to have pancake parlour.. first of all I needed to use the rest room. The waitress said to me they don’t have toilets for their customers and told me I had to go out side and use public toilets.. I was Definitely not impress at all. Then we waited to get served, we then order our food and drinks 3 of us received our drinks and the forth person waiting for his orange juice which took them more then 10 mins.. when I asked the waitress nicely where is my orange juice the waitress said to me the juice machine is getting clean there will be a wait I was not happy with that. I then change my drink to coke after waiting 15 mins once the food came out my breakfast was so greasy it was the worst breakfast!!! one of my friend order 4 pancakes he end up with 3 pancakes the Portions sizes has gone completely small from what it was a few years ago, the prices are ridiculously expensive for what you get the bill came and we even had to pay weekend rates 13 dollars more on top of our bill.. I think pancake parlour is definitely overrated I wont ever eat there again.. by the way our water glasses had lipstick marks on it. You know what pancake parlour you guys really need to take extra care for your customers because we notice everything especially your pancake sizes I know mc Donalds Definitely shrunk their burgers.
