Wow. Best restaurant I have been to in a very long time. Upon arrival we were greeted by Jack, who was charming and welcoming. Throughout the evening he struck the perfect balance of attentiveness, and we appreciated his friendliness and good humour. The dining area is quite small but it is a great use of space and it feels cosy and comfortable. I loved having a full view of the kitchen, watching the steaks being cooked and the chefs really seeming to enjoy their work. We ordered the Steak Tartare to start and it was phenomenal. For mains I got the NY strip and my wife got the eye fillet. Both were absolutely spot on. Couldn’t fault a single thing. The accompanying sauces were great and the duck fat potatoes were elite. We ordered a side of fries as well and I don’t think I’ve had better fries anywhere, they were perfect. Every single thing we had was amazing. We were able to choose our own pace for subsequent drinks and food orders all of which arrived with appropriate gaps to allow plenty of chat without going thirsty or hungry. The choice of both affordable and higher end wine suited our group, while the menu was of Clat's usual variety and its presentation and quality excellent. The atmosphere of a relaxed but vibrant venue was enhanced by the interior decor and staff attention with a nod to its history and connection with the Cats footy club via the memorabilia suitably displayed. Read moreWhat a great addition to Geelong. The food was really good. The steak and chips were cooked to perfection. A nice thick medium cooked thick steak. And the knives were actually sharp and can cut through a steak, unlike other places where the knives are made of rubber. The waiters were fantastic and kept checking on our table. Very friendly and attentive. Most restaurants in Geelong, you're lucky to see a waiter attend a table efficiently , most are undertrained or unaware. In my opinion, if you have a bad waiter, you’re experience will not be good. The atmosphere is fantastic, nothing better than eating great food under nicely dimmed lighting and soft music.
