Review: Miyavi Japanese Food, East Perth If you’re after a no-frills Japanese dining experience, Miyavi Japanese Food might catch your eye, but don’t expect much beyond the basics. The venue has a very casual, lunch bar vibe, but unfortunately, that relaxed atmosphere extends to the staff and cleanliness standards. The staff weren’t particularly friendly or attentive, and the noise coming from the open kitchen made it hard to enjoy the meal. The restaurant itself felt a bit neglected, with sticky tables and even a few flying insects making an unwelcome appearance. The menu sticks to standard Japanese staples like chicken katsu and common nigiri selections. The food itself was a mixed bag: the beef was passable, the rice was mediocre, and the miso soup was a complete letdown—served cold and unappetising. For a Japanese eatery, failing to get basics like rice and miso soup right is disappointing. Overall, Miyavi feels like it’s coasting on convenience rather than quality. There are far better Japanese options nearby that are worth your time and money.

UPDATE: just bought chicken karaage. I was stupid to go back there, but thought maybe things have changed. They did, on worse. The chicken was raw, see the picture. Never again! Used to buy lunch almost every week there, every single time it was great. didn't go for a couple of months, went today, only one of old staff was there, new chefs, not sure if management completely changed, but the food was below average. I usually always have chicken karaage and it takes some 15 minutes to prepare it. this time it took 5 minutes. taste was not as great as before. miso soup was luke warm... hopefully just an odd day...

A great place to grab some authentic and simple Japanese meals at good prices. We shared a few dishes and the ginger fish and chicken katsu were delicious, although the base flavour seemed to be similar if not the same between the two. The yakiniku beef was a bit stringy and a lot of the slices of beef were not properly cut and too big when strung together making it not so pleasant to eat. It's good for takeaway and dine in.

Great, quick, and tasty food. My favs are the Tuna roll and the Chicken Katsu Dom.

Busy...BUSY at lunch time. This place is popular with all the office staff in the surrounding area.

They do offer dine in, but there aren't a lot of tables available. This is more of a place designed for serving quick take away meals.

Pre-packaged sushi rolls are always fresh because they always sell out. (*Don't let being sold out discourage you, they will gladly make one for you if you ask). Hot meals are cooked as you order and are always fresh.

Staff aren't necessarily friendly *or rude, just very efficient as you may expect in a high volume, smallish venue. Always...
