Nestled at a corner of a street, Mint Asian is a hidden gem offering delightful Asian cuisine, with a focus on Singaporean dishes and a few Thai dishes.
At first glance, the restaurant's empty and seemingly "old" appearance may raise some skepticism. As a Singaporean myself, I was curious about the authenticity of their flavours. However, my doubts were quickly dispelled.
I decided to try a variety of dishes, including the Egg Fried Rice, Prawn Fried Rice, Kway Tuay, Laksa, and Springroll. To my pleasant surprise, each dish exceeded my expectations.
Their fried rice at A$13 (Australia) vs A$6 (Singapore) is at a 110% increment! While much pricier compared to Singapore, the slightly portion sizes were generous, still making it worth it.
In our group's opinion, the Prawn Fried Rice outshined the Egg Fried Rice. The former was more flavourful with wok hey taste, while the latter lacked ingredients and leaned towards being slightly dry.
The Laksa, a traditional Singaporean dish, turned out to be surprisingly good. In fact, I dare say that the broth tasted even better than some of the laksa you find in nearby neighborhoods back in Singapore.
Among the dishes I ordered, the Kway Teow stood out as the tastiest. Its flavors were well-balanced, leaving a lasting impression.
The Springroll also deserves mention for its commendable quality.
While the service may not be top-notch, the staff is friendly enough, adding to the overall dining experience.
To sum it up, if you're craving Singaporean food or looking to savor a taste of Singapore in Perth, Mint Asian is one of the few places you should definitely visit. Its delectable dishes, despite being much pricier than in Singapore, will leave you satisfied and give you a good taste of...
Read moreThis was a serendipitous amazing find. We ordered from this place twice in 2 days. The first day the little one wanted to stay in so I ordered a chow mein and honey chilli chicken to go. The wok hey for the chow mein rivaled the best zi chars in Singapore. And the honey chilli chicken just wetted our appetites for more. The little one just absolutely demolished the chow mein. We paid around 30 AUD.
The second day we came in person just at opening time for dinner and ordered spring rolls (another winner with the little one) and a mee goreng and sweet and sour chicken rice. The bill came up to about 55 AUD. For this many dishes and the portion, the meal was a steal in Perth. Sometimes you can order 2 dishes and the bill can come up to 60 AUD very easily.
This place comes highly recommended for the food. But I think what makes it even more special is the husband (who is the chef) and wife team running the restaurant. They are truly nice people who want to make sure they get your order right. So come here, order your food, get your Asian tastebuds satisfied and make friends with the auntie and uncle.
Most importantly, enjoy...
