If you're a fan of malatang or just curious to try something spicy, comforting, and customizable, Zhangliang Spicy Hotpot in Northbridge is a must-visit. This spot delivers an authentic Sichuan-style hotpot experience that’s both flavorful and fun to build on your own terms.
The star of the show here is, of course, the malatang soup—rich, aromatic, and packed with that bold spicy kick you'd expect from real Chinese hotpot. Whether you like it tongue-numbingly spicy or prefer a milder broth, you can customize the spice level to your liking. The broth is incredibly delicious and deeply seasoned, making every bite warm and satisfying, especially on a cool day or late-night outing.
One of the best parts about Zhangliang is the huge variety of ingredients available. You’ll find a wide selection of fresh meats, including sliced beef, chicken, lamb, meatballs, and more. There’s also an impressive range of vegetables, tofu, noodles, mushrooms, seafood, and unique hotpot add-ins that you might not see elsewhere. Everything is laid out buffet-style, so you can handpick your perfect bowl. Once you're done choosing, they weigh your bowl, cook it in your chosen broth, and bring it out hot and ready.
The atmosphere is casual but clean and modern, making it a great spot for a quick solo meal or a fun group hangout. Located conveniently in Northbridge, it’s easy to find and close to other nightlife and entertainment spots.
Whether you're a malatang enthusiast or a first-timer, Zhangliang Spicy Hotpot offers a delicious, customizable, and affordable dining experience that keeps you coming...
Read more5/5 – Great food, fun experience, and dangerously fast service
I’ve been to Zhangliang Spicy Hot Pot in Northbridge three times now—twice with friends and once with my mum—and every visit has been solid. The food? Amazing. The experience? Fun. The service? So fast it almost concerns me. You barely have time to sit down before your food appears like magic. I swear they must have a psychic in the kitchen who starts cooking your order before you even make it.
The whole setup is great—you pick your ingredients, hand them over, and within five minutes your steaming hot bowl of spicy goodness is ready. No awkward small talk while waiting, no wondering if your order got lost. Just instant gratification. The broth is flavourful, the ingredients are always fresh, and the spice level will remind you of every bad decision you’ve ever made if you go too hard.
Perfect spot for a casual meal, whether you’re out with friends or dragging your mum along to show her why you keep coming back. I’ve made some great memories here, and honestly, at this point, I might as well start a loyalty card. If you love hot pot, speed, and the thrill of burning your tongue because you were too impatient, this is the place for you....
Read moreIt was my second time giving this place a shot today and my experience was unfortunately similarly disappointing to the first time.
Similar to the previous reviews, the ingredients are often overcooked, mushy and leafy veggies were all really soggy with the soup base being really oily;
Rude and hostile staff.
While paying for the food, I spoke to a staff in the orange uniform with stripy sleeves at the register in Chinese mandarin when I had trouble understanding her in English, and she continued to speak to me in English when in fact she is obviously native in Chinese mando and was able to converse in the language(which she later did with another customer), until I asked whether she spoke Chinese mando that she reluctantly spitted a word then continued to speak English with me which I had trouble understanding. The particular staff was also really hostile and rude afterwards walking around my table which made me feel really unwelcomed, uncomfortable and had to quickly finish the meal and leave.
The business shall cater to the language needs of the customer instead of the other way around.
Given the low quality of both the food and service. I will not support...
