I had heard good things about The Moon from other visitors and Perth locals so was really keen to check out this local haunt for myself. Not sure if our group experienced a "dud night" but everything felt off... Arriving at 11.30pm on Wednesday, we were asked to wait to be seated by the bartender who continued to do nothing but didn't take us to our seats when no other servers could be seen on the restaurant floor. After a 5 minute wait, a server appeared and we were directed to some seating at the back. We were not given enough menus for each person in the group and the server left before giving us any information about whether the kitchen was still serving etc. Coming back 10 minutes later, he took drinks orders from two of us and left. No-one returned to get an order from the rest of the group and we waited 20 minutes for 3 drinks to be made. As someone in the industry, there is no way it was busy enough for the drinks to take that long to be prepared. Once the drinks finally arrived, we had to ask the staff member to take the order from the rest of the group. We were then told that "as it is 12.03am, we have to order food in order to get an alcoholic drink." If our complete drinks order had been taken at the start, we would not have had to add food to our evening night cap. This situation could have been avoided by the server informing our group of liquor licensing laws and the need to order prior to midnight, if only wanting a drink. We ordered some food so the rest of our group could drink with us. One meal arrived quickly, albeit with cold fries. It was another 10 minutes before we asked where the remainder of the table's meal was... the server left to check the kitchen dockets, went back to the order station and obviously put in another re-order. No explanation was forthcoming so we asked if the original order had been misplaced, we were told yes but they had comped the moon nugs dish and it would be out shortly. At this point, we cancelled the remaining food as the rest of the table had finished it's food and drinks. Getting the tab and splitting the bill was painless enough and the cashier was super friendly. Alas, this was not enough to redeem the last hour of poor hospitality and product provided by the rest...
Read moreWalking into The Moon feels like stepping through a portal—one moment, you’re in the heart of Northbridge’s buzzing nightlife, the next, you’re wrapped in the warm embrace of a cozy, charming little restaurant with a vibe so inviting it practically gives you a hug. The decor? Quaint, warm, and absolutely spot-on.
Now, let’s talk service. Too many places get this wrong, but not here. From the moment you step in, you’re greeted like an old friend, and if you’re lucky enough to have Gabby looking after you, you’re in for a real treat. Friendly, attentive, and genuinely a pleasure—she sets the standard every restaurant should aspire to.
The food? Bloody. Brilliant. It’s home-style cooking, but don’t mistake that for anything less than stellar. And the speed? Lightning-fast—almost suspiciously so—but every dish still tastes like it’s been made with time, care, and love. The pastas? Absolute knockout. The spaghetti carbonara and creamy pesto are rich, indulgent, and so damn good that even with the most ravenous appetite, you’ll struggle to clear the plate.
And for those who don’t fancy pasta? No worries. There’s something for everyone—pizzas, parmis, and a solid selection of vegetarian and gluten-free options, all executed with the same level of passion and precision.
Drinks? Next level. The fairy bread cocktail? Pure nostalgia in a glass, and the fact that it comes with an actual slice of fairy bread? Genius. It’s a little touch, but it tells you everything you need to know—this place cares about the details.
What really seals the deal for me is how well they look after me and my friends. Rolling up here with my biker crew, we’re always welcomed with open arms. No judgment, no attitude—just love, good food, and cold drinks. It doesn’t matter if we’re fresh off a ride or just looking for a solid meal after a night out, The Moon treats us like family every single time.
So, between the soul-warming food, the spot-on service, and the unbeatable atmosphere, The Moon delivers in every single way. Five stars. And let’s be honest, I don’t give those...
Read moreAfter coming here for years when I used to live in Perth and loving it, I came this weekend and was shocked at how bad it had gotten. The staff seemed only interested in socialising with each other and who I'm guessing seemed to be their friends at the bar, took ages to even ask if we were ready to order, the food came out quite fast which was good but the quality in which we are was not as much a wow as it had used to be.
The salads were overdressed (it seemed like it had just sat there in a downpour of dressing), had too many leaves, and not near enough prawns or chicken (separate salads) for what you'd expect from a $20 salad. Pizza's were okay, although light on meats also.
Even when it came to pay the staff did not want to know, I'd have thought after walking down past the bar literally STARING at the wait staff as they chatted would have gained their attention while I waited at the register but no, I was still forced to wait 5 minutes to pay for a meal and service I did not actually enjoy that much. I saw a 'runner' box on the register with loads of people's drivers licenses and cards, maybe they were so appalled with the restaurant also and decided it's not even worth getting their ID or credit cards back to give this restaurant the satisfaction of having another mug paying for food and service here. The dessert pizzas were good but I guess they would be easy and were pretty basic.
Also staff should mention takeaway boxes cost $1 because if I had of known this I may not have got a couple to put this food into to give I my dog as something different to his usual feed.
Overall poor experience, not returning here unless I start to hear rave reviews from friends....
