Spiral Backpackers Hostel — Hotel in Northbridge

My first 2 days here I would have agreed it was the worst hostel ever. People's stuff was strewn everywhere to the point where you could hardly walk. But day 3, and a normal amount of luggage, the floors had been cleaned, bath scrubbed and it was like any normal hostel. Maybe the mess was because it had been a big holiday weekend.

The kitchen is huge, and clean, which was nice. But 1) they could use having a system to label food. Japan, on the door to storage, they had installed a pen, slips of paper asking name, room #, checkout date; with roll of tape. Impressive! 2) Spiral wanted you to wash and dry your dishes but they were constantly running out of drying towels.

I agree about the crinkly pillows. A nuisance every time you turn over.

The location cannot be beat. So near the bus and train stations, near a huge IGA supermarket, lots of restaurants and attractions within walking distance.

In my opinion the best hostel in perth!! I've stayed here multiple times and was always happy to come back. The location couldn't be any better, it's very central and close to bars, cafes and restaurants. What I love about Spiral most (apart from the giant fridge hehe) is that it's a very social hostel-I've met the most amazing people here!! This place will always be my base in Australia and also the place where I found my Perth Family! The vibe in general is very friendly and Aaron is always happy to help people out with literally anything. Lily, Aaron and Jordan always make sure that the hostel is clean. The kitchen is very spacious and there are lots of common areas where you can socialize and meet new friends. I also love the new tents on the beds with curtains for more privacy. I was really excited to stay in this hostel after seeing so many great reviews, but honestly my experience fell short. The location is great, as you're central to the hustle bustle of the city, except you're also right next to a bar/club that plays very loud bass music until 2am on weekends so goodluck sleeping. The room had a bad smell, and ground was dirty. Also some beds had privacy tents but not all of them? Being the only girl in an all male room, it would have been nice to arrive to having one but it is what it is. Bathrooms had no soap and were very dirty, but kitchen was well cleaned + organized!
