I came in with 2 other friends and we were genuinely there to have a good time, considering we are on holiday from Melbourne. Only been to Sydney once and wanted to explore more.
When we ordered we had wanted a bottle of soju and like any responsible licences premise, they asked to check our IDs for supposedly proof of our age. Coming from another state, with the road authority being Victoria Roads, we gave the server our driver licences. He then proceeds to “check” our IDs and proceeds to hand back our IDs asking if we had any NSW issued IDs. We handed both physical and digital versions of our IDs, all issued and authorised by the State of Victoria similar to how it is done in NSW. However, we are constantly met with opposition, being asked for other IDs but never being told an example of other acceptable forms of IDs. One of us even gave our phone to him to allow him to check the digital ID and its authenticity but all he really did was click around and NOT check the hologram authentication built into the digital ID. He kept saying there’s been multiple fake physical and digital IDs, which could be true but given that our IDs are all indicating Victorian IDs and not NSW IDs, he highly unlikely has the ability to distinguish fake and real Victorian IDs compared to NSW IDs. Even if he does, he didn’t do any of the regular ID verification steps, being to ask us questions or check the security features of the IDs. Had he searched how to verify interstate IDs he would have complied with RSA regulations. He eventually gave up and said this one time he will allow us to have the bottle of soju in a tone that was both condescending and distrustful.
We later asked, at the end of our meal, what it was he was looking for. Believing it was either our age or specifics that NSW IDs had. However, all he said was that he was looking for a Road Traffic Authority of NSW issued ID or a passport per his RSA NSW training, because that’s “how [he] learns”. Quite clearly under 3.2.1.1 of the RSA NSW course handbook, an acceptable form of ID for proof of age is either a physical or digital ID issued by either the state of NSW under the RTA or by an authority in another state or territory, for Victoria being VicRoads. CLEARLY he has not done he’s training well enough, nor had the commonsense to check what IDs he could accept despite having this training. We had asked this question nicely about what he was looking for given we were from Victoria. However, due to questioning his ability to serve alcohol he just stared at us when we were leaving. Disgusting, appalling, and outright unsatisfactory service from this place’s staff who are supposedly trained. We understand that he needs to check ID, this is a must and absolutely uncontested, but to ask for other forms of ID without telling us what other accepted IDs could be, and not truly accepting the authenticity of our IDs despite not even thoroughly verifying their authenticity, really highlights weather he has actually undergone his RSA certification throughly or if RSA NSW’s pass grade is too low. Train your staff better so no other interstate customers feel punished and discriminated for not being a...

⸻
🍴 I’d heard whispers about 2135 from a few foodie mates and seen it pop up on TikTok now and then, mostly showing off sizzling plates and late-night vibes. So when we found ourselves in Strathfield with an appetite for something casual, delicious and a little bit different, we knew where we were headed.
🎛️ Tucked away in the heart of Strathfield, 2135 feels like one of those hidden gems that locals want to keep to themselves. Industrial cool with exposed brick, neon signs, polished concrete floors and communal tables that practically beg you to stay for hours. Even during the quieter arvo hours, it had a buzz. You can see why it fills up fast once the sun goes down.
🍽️ We kept it simple with three plates and a cold drink and honestly that was plenty. • Corn cheese – sweet, creamy, melty goodness served hot and bubbling. One of those dishes you don’t realise you’ve finished until you’re scraping the edges with your spoon. • Gyozas – pan-fried perfection. Crispy bottoms, juicy filling and a dipping sauce that ties it all together. Delicious little pockets of happiness. • Eggplant bites – these stole the show. Lightly battered, crispy outside and buttery-soft inside. Even if you’re not usually into eggplant, these are worth a try.
🍻 Of course we ordered a Cass. Cold, crisp and the perfect match for everything we ate. It’s not a Korean bar night without one. Next time I’m keen to try one of their drink towers with friends.
👀 The tteokbokki is calling my name. Also keen for the Korean fried chicken and maybe a kimchi pancake. Basically the whole menu. And definitely planning to come back at night when the place really comes alive.
📝 2135 nails it. Great food, cool atmosphere and super chill vibes that make you want to settle in. Whether you’re starting a night out or just need a good feed with good company, this spot’s got you. Affordable, tasty and fun –...
Read moreHonestly the place has good vibes but a few things happened that affected our experience. Walking in, the place looks really cool and you can see yourself having good times with a bunch of friends. However the ‘tables’ are not really designed for large food orders and we had to combine the tables to accommodate for our group and if the service would regularly clear our tables this problem would be avoided but when placing new dishes, the empty ones were left. Water was also constantly asked for a refill which would have been a great time to take employee plates but they were quick to leave. The biggest mark of poor service was when we asked for a table of shots, the final shot when placed on to the table was spilled on to me and it went over my shirt sleeve and shorts. No apologies were provided to me and the lady just left, replaced the shot and provided a box of tissues and left. I actually may have to check the bill if they may have charged us for the extra shot (we did not cause the spillage). The reason for the decent three stars will come down to the food being actually pretty good. We absolutely thought the fried chicken was exceptional and the other dishes were nice too. The chicken feet dish was also very spicy so be ready for a kick. Perhaps the service staff may need a refresher on customer service but besides that, the...
