Review of Mikazuki Japanese Restaurant, Strathfield, NSW:
Mikazuki Japanese Restaurant in Strathfield, NSW, is a true gem for lovers of authentic Japanese cuisine. Having heard rave reviews from friends, I recently decided to give it a try, and I can confidently say that it lived up to all the hype and exceeded my expectations.
The restaurant's ambiance is immediately inviting, with traditional Japanese decor elements mixed with modern touches. The seating arrangement allows for both intimate dinners and larger groups, making it suitable for various occasions. Upon entering, I was greeted with a warm welcome from the staff, who were friendly and attentive throughout my entire dining experience.
The menu at Mikazuki offers an impressive range of classic and contemporary Japanese dishes, each thoughtfully prepared with the finest ingredients. To start, I opted for the Edamame and Gyoza, which were both served fresh and bursting with flavor. The Gyoza had a perfectly crisp texture on the outside and a juicy, flavorful filling on the inside.
For the main course, I couldn't resist trying their signature sushi and sashimi platter. The presentation was exquisite, and the taste was even more delightful. The sushi was expertly crafted, with the fish being incredibly fresh and of the highest quality. The sashimi slices practically melted in my mouth, a testament to the restaurant's commitment to serving the best ingredients possible.
One dish that stood out was the Wagyu Beef Teriyaki. The tender Wagyu beef was grilled to perfection and coated in a rich, savory teriyaki sauce that complemented the meat beautifully. It was a true indulgence and one of the highlights of the meal.
Moreover, Mikazuki offers a diverse selection of beverages, including a well-curated list of sake and Japanese-inspired cocktails. I tried the Matcha Martini, and it was a delightful twist on a classic cocktail, perfectly balancing the bitterness of matcha with the smoothness of the vodka.
The service at Mikazuki Japanese Restaurant was impeccable. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu and were more than willing to provide recommendations based on personal preferences. The dishes were served promptly, and they ensured that our dining experience was seamless and enjoyable.
The restaurant's location in Strathfield is another plus point. It's conveniently situated near public transport, making it easily accessible for both locals and visitors to the area.
In conclusion, Mikazuki Japanese Restaurant is a culinary haven for anyone seeking an authentic Japanese dining experience in Strathfield, NSW. From the warm ambiance to the outstanding quality of the dishes and impeccable service, every aspect of the restaurant was top-notch. Whether you're a Japanese cuisine aficionado or someone looking to explore new flavors, Mikazuki is a must-visit destination that will leave you with a lasting impression of the rich and diverse world of Japanese gastronomy. I highly recommend making a reservation and indulging in the culinary delights this restaurant...
Read moreMy wife and I had dinner here. The food came out pretty quickly after ordering as it was around 8pm. We ordered a few dishes to try. Couple of entrees, salad, sushi roll and 2 mains.
We had the Miso Eggplant - which was deep fried tempura style and drizzled with sweet Miso sauce. The batter was light and crispy but the sauce was quite sweet and lacking the Miso umami taste.
Agedashi tofu - The tofu was warm and not as hot as I've had in other restaurants considering it was just deep fried. The medium firm tofu the restaurant was a bit tough but the taste overall was pleasant and enjoyable.
Seaweed Salad - This was surprisingly tasty and decent serving size with the price point of only $11. Definitely worth the try if you are into Japanese seaweed salad. The only pain point was a large leaf my wife noticed as she removed it from her mouth, other than that the salad was great!
Dragon Roll - Unagi, tamago, cucumber and Avocado roll. Nothing much to say apart from that it was tasty and looked like the picture in the menu.
Chicken Katsu Curry Don - The curry favour wasn't very strong, quite mild and the gravy was thick. The Chicken Katsu was light and crispy and still juicy! The rice was surprisingly hard and not piping hot.
This maybe due to the air-conditioning that the staff had turned on due to the amount of little small flying insects constantly flying around our meal.
Finally we ordered their Signature Mikasuzki Ramen - Tonkotsu broth with garlic oil and few other ramen ingredients. When this arrived the fragrance was strong with the tonkotsu broth and the presentation was on point for a signature ramen. However upon closer inspection there is a huge layer of oil on top of the ramen.
I've eaten a lot of ramen throughout Japan but this is the first time that I've experienced with so much oil on top!! I've had to use a spoon to remove the oil from the bowl to another smaller bowl and what I removed was quite a staggering amount. I was a bit shocked as the oil didn't add a huge amount of difference to the over flavour of the ramen broth.
Please see attached photos for the references of this meal. I think the dishes overall were pleasant and the restaurant worth visiting again to try out some of the other dishes...
Read moreWe ordered takeaway for dinner from this restaurant and here is my experience which ruined our Friday night/Valentine's day dinner. We ordered via phone and we have ordered seven dishes including few entrees, and the waitress said about 15mins so we arrived after 15 mins and picked up our food. We got home and realised our main dish - wagyu beef don is missing. We called up the restaurant and explained the situation. However, I had to repeat myself more than six times with two different people on the phone and they seem don't understand or believe me. At the end, I brought all the food back to the restaurant with my receipt to show them and the waitress handed me the wagyu beef don and briefly apologised and didn't bother to explain to me what happened. The don was like luke warm when I was holding it and my other food went cold already by then. Food might be nice if it was warm but all we ate was cold beef and rice, soggy deep fried calamari and cold agadashi tofu. It is very disappointing that the waitresses pay no attention to customers and the food especially when it comes to take away, a few seconds to check just to ensure the customer is getting what they have ordered would have made the experience 100 times better. Some of you may wonder why we didn't check the food. First of all, the food were in non transparent containers, stacked up and wrapped up so it was impossible to take all the food out and count. Secondly, as a customer, I would expect the waitress who packed the food would have checked. Hence, I will not be visiting this restaurant again anytime soon after such a...
