50% Sweet 50% Thai — Restaurant in Sydney

I searched around for Thai on Google Maps and thought a 4.1 star small Thai restaurant was going to be a winner.

The man at the door suggested there were no tables inside and outside was wet, so he asked if I wanted to sit out the back. There was a brief conversation between a female waitress pointing to the outside and wiping it, but the male waiter insisted on following her to the back area. I was not asked to wait for a table.

The back appeared to be awkwardly behind a window overlooking the inside of the small restaurant. It was a passage way for the back of other restaurants where I could see a box, rubbish bags, toys, and a ladder. But the rubbish smell was probably the arguable point here.

I had the Pad See Ew with chicken. The meal came out pretty fast and tasted ok. At first, the dish felt a little dry but got better as I ate. Chicken was cooked nicely, but the overall taste was nothing to rave about, unfortunately.

Service from the female waitress was friendly. Perhaps as a professional, I would suggest to the owners to clean up the back area, declutter, and present the extra seating to welcome people, not make them feel they are not part of...

Their curry crab meat rice was to die for! We were attracted to the dish advertised at their entrance and we decided to try it without second thoughts.

They had a huge menu for food and desserts and we had hard time deciding what to go for but the curry crab meat rice was a must. The curry was done so well with generous portion of crab meat and we craved more of it after we finished it.

We also got ourselves chicken and pork neck skewers for sharing and they were very delicious. They were very well marinated and the meats were juicy to my liking. They were obviously my favorite and I crave more of them after I finished them.

We also had fried tofu with cashew nut sauce for sharing and it didn’t disappoint. The tofus were fried to the crispiness to my liking and they were very flavorful with the sauce.

All in all, I had a pleasant dining experience here as food was served fast and the servers were attentive to us. Though the meal was a tad too heavy for us as the food we had was full with sauce. We had a satisfying meal instead and would love to come back again to try other items...

I’ve never experienced such poor service at a restaurant before. We placed our order half an hour ago, and yet our drinks still hadn’t arrived. When my friend went to ask about it, the waiter informed us that the durian smoothie was sold out. Why wasn’t this communicated to us sooner? Why did we have to ask before they told us? For our main dish, the crab curry rice, I actually saw the waiter deliver the order we had placed to the table behind us. Ten minutes later, the waiter came over to tell us that the crab curry rice was sold out. How is it that the table behind us got their order, but there was nothing left for us? On top of that, we had also ordered pork neck skewers, but the waiter claimed we hadn’t ordered them at all. This level of service and communication is completely unacceptable. It’s extremely frustrating to have waited for so long, only to be treated this way. I won’t be coming...
