I have been meeting friends at this cafe for a number of years now and have always enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Sadly, today was an extremely disappointing experience. One thing that has never been correct is my request for seating. I am quite specific and, again today, with only two other tables occupied, my friends had to explain where we would like to be seated and requested to be moved. There is no longer table service, having to pay for your meal before you receive it. Not what one would expect from a hotel cafe. We were waiting for over 20 minutes before I explained to the staff that one of my friends was time constrained and we would prefer to cancel the meal if we had to wait much longer. There was only one other table of 4 in the cafe at this popular time of the day (booking was for 12.30 p.m.). The staff explained that there were only trainee chefs in the kitchen and they had called a senior chef from upstairs to come and help get the meals prepared. Extraordinary !! The food finally arrived about 10 mins later and I must say I was so disappointed with the standard of the meals. My order was “Eggs done anyway”. It was literally 2 poached eggs on a plate with two small triangles of whole meal bread on the side, two teaspoons of almost cold mushrooms and about 4 very small cherry tomatoes. This for $19.00. My friends ordered a Steak Sandwich and Smashed Avocado. There was very little avocado and a lot of bread. The Steak Sandwich had an excess of chips and bread and very little steak, which was quite tough. I asked to speak to the Manager and she was apologetic acknowledging that the kitchen was underperforming today. As pleasant as she was, I find this situation totally unacceptable. There were a number of staff present and they just seemed to be hanging around with little to do. In today’s tough economic climate, surely a cafe attached to a hotel would be doing everything possible to maintain the best of standards. Sadly, this was not the case today. I don’t see us returning to Artisaint any time soon. I hope that other people do not experience what we...
Read moreIt was bad experience, the staff didn’t come or look after our table when were ready to order the food, I waved my hand so many times but no one looked at me and pretended they were busy. I went up to order at the counter and kindly asked if we should order here after we waited for half an hour and the lady came to our table and didn’t apologise. Our waitress said “ Im here now after an hour, what do you want ?” Very sarcastically. I still was polite even after the rude order taking and I said thank you and we ordered food. The lady aggressively slammed the wine and glasses down on the table which caused loud bang noise. I was surprised but still said thank you. My friend then asked for table water and she said it was self service, until I saw the staff bring a jug of water and cups to another table!! The waitress saw my reaction and brought 4 of glasses of water and aggressively slammed it down on table once again. I still said thank you. I had a very bad experience, and we didn’t do anything wrong but she showed horrible manners to our table. After that interaction I hoped at least the food was good but the chicken was uncooked inside still pink and i have photo proof. I asked one of the staff who the manager was and that the rude waitress was the manager of this Cafe, her name is Rose. I don’t know how they still have a business after treating customers who pay money for their experience like this. It was disappointing and they have to fix their disgusting behaviour if they want to continue in this industry. I wouldnt recommend going...
Read moreWe recently went here for the high tea as a Mother’s Day celebration. Although the food was reasonable, I was left feeling really disappointed hence the 1 star.
I paid for 4 people high tea and ordered wedges and a milkshake for my 3 year old thinking I could share a few sweet treats with my child later… As we were eating, a waiter approached us and explicitly said that my 3 year old was not allowed to have any of the high tea despite me having already ordered food and a drink for her, so it’s not like she was only here to eat the high tea.
Firstly, how much food can a 3 year old eat? Secondly, never in my experiences of high tea have I ever received such a bizarre request. Thirdly it was a Mother’s Day high tea celebration so I was there to celebrate with my kids and the mums in my extended family. Lastly, it seems that the restaurant would prefer the food go to waste as we didn’t finish the high tea then for my child to eat abit of it… and even then she wouldn’t have finished it. Finally; We did end up getting the rest of the high tea takeaway and I did end up letting my kid eat one macaron when we got home since she wasn’t allowed to eat it at...
