We always like to try somewhere new and we like a good coffee roaster. We had a quick browse online and decided to head to Aslan Coffee Roasters. Aslan have been roasting in St Peters since 2011. We visited their store in the Rocks, found down a small lane way; Nurses walk. Aslan’s aim is to produce a diverse range of coffee that shows off the bold flavours from Indonesia. They roast weekly and use these beans in milk based, filter, nitro, V60 and cold brew coffee. They also do a good chai, teas and shakes. Turkish for lion, Aslan also feature this is their cool wall art, a little ‘graffiti-esque’ in style. The menu here has an Asian influence, predominately Indonesian. Menu items are interesting and on our visits we tried the following foods: Herbed roasted Mushrooms with smashed avo on a soft Hokkaido bun with Danish feta and dukkah. You can add eggs, we chose poached, as well as a bit of bacon. A fresh and tasty dish, reasonably priced at $15. We also enjoyed a Kimchi and Quinoa Breakfast bowl, which was nice and healthy with kale, roasted mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, roasted sesame dressing and topped with a fried egg and house made kimchi. Another tasty dish was their Indonesian Turmeric rice, topped with hot smoked salmon kedgeree (a Tasmanian smoked salmon), with parsley, a fried egg, tougarashi and some curry sauce on the side. The food here was really tasty and reasonably priced.

While on our morning walk through the Rocks in Sydney, we stumbled across this quaint coffee shop nestled in the Nurses Walk. We had to stop. Firstly because there was a line of about 50 people waiting for a coffee. Many had their own cups, which meant they were regulars. Secondly, because it is named after the Chronicles of Narnia. This means that the people lining up were either super keen on great coffee or they were Narnia geeks. As we fit into both these categories, we joined the line. We ordered our coffee and waited with the same anticipation of a young Lucy stepping through the back of the wardrobe for the first time. And yes, it was worth the wait. Great coffee, amazing atmosphere and we even made a friend or two while waiting. Today I drink my coffee and think of the great C.S Lewis. "Remember the signs and believe the signs. Nothing else matters. Remember that all worlds draw to an end and that noble death is a treasure which no one is too poor to buy".

Bought a pulled pork wrap which was just a cabbage wrap with a tiny amt of pork. I returned to the store and complained as I didnt want to instantly leave a bad review if I can resolve with the store, but how the manager handled himself was appalling. I let him know that there was barely any pork in the wrap, and instead of a standard response of apologising that I was happy with it, he basically said "its $9.50, what do you expect?" I was shocked at how rude and condescending he was being. I stated I just wanted my credit back for ordering online and even after wrapping things up he continued being smart and strangely defensive. To see a manager so unprofessional and immature was incredibly disappointing, considering im trying my best to support local business in these times. I suggest going to Brew Cafe or MCA cafe nearby.

LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS COFFEE!

My husband and I had an unexpected delay in Sydney while on our honeymoon in early March. While staying in Sydney I had found this coffee shop on google, and it was close to our hotel so we decided to walk down for a cup. It was a cute shop with friendly staff and some yummy baked goods! We loved the coffee and decided to buy a small bag to bring home with us. Upon our return home and comparing it to what we normally drink, the ASLAN coffee was so much better! It is so smooth and no bitter flavor! We were so bummed that we had only purchased 1 small bag and when I got online to buy some there was not a shipping option for the US. I reached out to ASLAN and they worked with us to get some shipped here!

This has quickly become our absolute favorite coffee! Even while we were waiting for it to arrive from Australia, I had decided to try some other coffees that are local to us and still couldn’t find any that we love this much. I rarely write reviews but this coffee, the friendly and accommodating people at ASLAN, and this cute shop has become a favorite in our memories. Can’t wait to return to Sydney to visit again – and in the meantime, we are so happy to have our ASLAN coffee to enjoy...

We used to like it here, but won’t come back anymore. The wait is ridiculous - every time we arrive, we’re waiting for a table for ages. There’s a sign at the door saying to wait to be seated but there’s nobody there to seat you. Take the sign away, or have someone there to seat people. Then when a table becomes available, you have to race to it to make sure that nobody that just comes in takes it from you. And when you get the table, you wait for ages for someone to clear it for you.

The customer service is nonexistent. I cannot believe how here even the basic things are an issue. It’s like they’re trying to literally do the bare minimum which is to bring your food.

There’s a completely wasted space outside in the sun where nobody ever sits, when they could maybe invest in some umbrellas and increase the table numbers.

A few times we ordered a burger but they told us they ran out of buns. Like, how can that happen multiple times? Also, the food quality has dropped.

We kept giving this place more chances, but now we’re just done. Extremely...
