Lovely and surprisingly quiet spot for a coffee on the weekend. Was a huge fan of the cafe upstairs, however this one was pretty disappointing in comparison.
Severely reduced menu options, and portion size was underwhelming.
Customer service could use some work. After reminding staff my coffee had not come to the table, I was given the wrong sized coffee. After going to the counter and asking for the large that I ordered, I was given a smile and an apology from the lady there, and told they'll redo it. However the person who originally served me then came over to our table with the regular coffee, placed it down in front of me and bluntly told me "you didn't pay for a large", then points at a receipt of an online order. I reminded him that he was quite literally the one that took my in-person order for a large.. He quietly remembers and takes the coffee back, and I eventually get my large.
Mistakes happen, but would have appreciated not being called out at our table for something that never happened, and an apology would have been great too. And even if I did mistakenly order a regular, just give me a large? Considering I waited like 40 minutes for my coffee.. I'm not here to pay $18 for a single piece of avocado toast then scam you out of the difference between a regular and large coffee..
I'll put it down to a rough morning, as I seemingly wasn't the only one of the few tables with mixed up orders.
Looking forward to the return of the...
Read moreI have been meaning to give this 5-star review for MCA cafe - I am an artist that's why the museum is close to my heart. I visit it very often every time there is a new exhibition. Since the day I discovered the cafe I have been going there frequently. Before, my office is not far from MCA - down HIckson Road. I will go there for a cup of Cappucino and Carrot cake. It is the best in Sydney in my opinion. I really love this cafe, value for money, cozy and nice view of the harbour. In spite the fact it is very touristy at times, I still get moments of silence when I go there off peak hours for my personal brain storming. Since it's very touristy, every time I have friends visiting me here in Sydney, it's on my list to go for coffee or something. The last time I was there I had this black bun burger and my friend had a bowl of salad. It was amazing and of course I also had my carrot cake. Service was fast and even if they get crowded, there's always an orderly chaos. This is Circular Quay's pride or rather Sydney's pride. Definitely a must, not just once,...
Read moreCame here on a rainy Saturday noon and the place was busy. We wanted to get a good view of the harbor bridge and opera house but outdoor seatings were full.
The server didn’t take long to get us a table inside and we were seated near the corner of the cafe which could get us the opera house view too. Overall not a bad experience.
They have a pretty standard list of food and beverages on their menu. You could either place the order online by scanning their QR code or pay at the counter. I faced some technical issue of the system when I was about to check out using Apple Pay though. It took me some time to fill up my card details and check out to place my order. Not a very clever system to me.
Eventually I ordered an açaí bowl and my friend had Ploughman’s Platter and iced mocha. The server served our food and drinks pretty quick despite the busy hour.
I enjoyed my friend’s company with the opera house view here even though the...
