Authentic Japanese food and restaurant experience. High quality ingredients and wide variety on menu, including items you may not find at other Japanese restaurants eg their spinach roll entree in a housemade sesame dressing; braised wagyu tendon with daikon. The sashimi is very fresh. Each dish is prepared with care and consideration eg pretty garnishes, housemade salts and sauces. We love the little details like inviting guests to choose their own sake cup out of a variety of designs. Service is attentive and helps clear dishes so more can arrive. They try to bring dishes out in a certain order eg cold / small plates first, culminating to the tobanyaki towards the end. The restaurant is dimly lit, creating a mood. There is bar seating for smaller groups and tables for larger like ours inclusive of kids. We’ve had a consistently good time here.

We have been to japan 14 times and I can definitely say this is one of the best Japanese restaurants I have been to in the world (we typically eat kaiseki meals in ryokans). The sashimi (particularly the salmon belly and scallop) are the best is Australia. The sashimi is so fresh and the wasabi is the fresh type. We also really loved the tofu wakame salad - even the salad is amazing! And thoroughly enjoyed the tempura Udon. The Udon had rich deep flavours and the tempura was perfect. The Nigiri sushi was excellent, but it was hard to compare once you have eaten the sashii The miso cod was perfectly cooked, and was a little salty, I think we should have ordered rice with it! The sake tasting platter was a lot of fun and we enjoyed the sake. We cannot believe this is in Australia and not Japan, highly highly recommended

It's been a year since coming back to this place. This used to be a nice Japanese restaurant but I was very disappointed by the quality of the fish served tonight, it was not fresh and somewhat fishy smelling. The soft shell crab in the spider roll was inexistent in some of the rolls. Originally we ordered a rainbow roll but that order was forgotten. I was introducing an overseas visitor to an "authentic Japanese restaurant" but it was a let down. I will not be going there again considering the price there was no value nor service... The pickled ginger tasted off. I hope the owner works to improve the quality of food and service... Such a shame ....

Pretty unsatisfactory experience to be perfectly honest. So to start the night, my girlfriend and I walked in around 8:30. Sat ourselves down after being shown a table an then proceeded to look over the menu. After spotting a few of the dishes being moves around the restaurant I noticed a pattern - the serving size seems to be tiny. After looking a few more times over the menu we decide to order. A nearby waitress came over after we gestured and we began to order. She seemed pretty short with us in terms of how she spoke responding with a curt "Yep" or "Alright", and then not really answering questions about food servings etc. We ordered a few different things because I had a feeling we were going to be hungry afterwards if we didn't. We ordered Gyoza's, Karaage Chicken on a Noodle Nest, Teriyaki Chicken - with two servings of rice, a 'Dynamite' Roll (Spicy Tuna) and a Lemon Lime & Bitters. Now the pricing I wasn't too worried about, the only thing I was worried about, was my stomach size, considering if I had ordered this amount of food anywhere else I would leave absolutely stuffed - but looking at what was being served all around us, it seemed as though it mightn't be that way.

We waited - 30mins (Alright considering the amount of people there.)

Then my Sushi arrived. I was initially going to eat all of it myself, but after the first bite I noticed something. It was NOT spicy in the slightest. Usually I'm not too concerned with something advertised as spicy if it at least has a minute amount of a bite to it, but this? Ridiculous. I had to add a surplus of wasabi to even get a slight bite out of it. We shared the plate.

We waited once again - 20 mins.

The Gyoza's and my meal came out at relatively similar times. We tucked into the Gyoza's - and might I add these were probably the highlight dish, considering they were the only things that were even remotely hot when brought out to us - and 4 pieces later they were done.

I then began my main, the chicken was okay. Nothing too crazy, but it reminds me of the stuff you'd find inside the chicken schnitzel sushi rolls down on your local sushi store on the corner. Went well with the dried noodles, but overall pretty plain.

We waited for another 20 mins.

Finally, my girlfriend's meal came. It was served warm again. Sweet sauce over it, with vegetables (Like a single corn cob taken from one of those frozen vegetable packs, and some shaved carrot - that's it.). Overall she rated the meal a 3/10, stating while the chicken was nice and all everything else in the dish seemed to leave it unfulfilled and unsatisfied.

We finished our meals, grabbed the bill - which was unsurprisingly too high for the unsatisfactory meal we had - and left.

Food: 4.5/10 Service: 6/10 Price: 2/10 OVERALL: 4/10

P.S. Would happily go back there if the service was tightened up and made more friendly and welcoming. The food wasn't so plain and 'had it before', and the price wasn't so...

Fundamentally fabulous food for foodies - 4 out of 5 for the following reasons :)

Food; My friend is a big fan of Bushari, so she went all out and ordered the following entree, eggplant, pan seared duck, sushimi, white rice with pickled rashish, washed down with cool (not warmed) sake. In Japanese - Gumbatte kudasai!! (please do your best), domo arigato - thank you !!

Next course was the main event, and I mean it was literally the main event! The wagyu beef and the sirloin came out at the same time on a Japanese hot stone - it was flamboyant and in my opinion gave the dish 'star quality'. Now lets talk about the wagyu - holey moley - I implore others to try their version of wagyu - the steak was 'melt in your mouth'. The sirloin in my opinion was good, but, contrasted with the wagyu (at $75.00 for a thick slice) and (sirloin $50.00 a thick slice), paled by comparison - nice, but not great. With this dish, we enjoyed a hotplate of Japanese vegetables, more cool sake, and of course white rice and the traditional sauces to compliment all dishes.

At the end, we were all happy, content and smiling. Domo Arigatou Guzaimusu!

Service and friendliness; Good. My only suggestion is that, it would have been nice for someone to say something in Japanese (like they do in Tokyo) to welcome us - this could and should be improved.

Cleanliness; good.

Value for money; as per the above, it was a little expensive, but for the great food and experience, in my opinion, worth every dollar.

x-factor - The wagyu beef - I am still salivating recounting my experience.

Busshari had long been a favourite of ours for good Japanese food in the cross. I first sampled the chefs delights about 6 years ago and came back more recently for a reunion like meal a few months ago. Unfortunately Bussahri wasn't as good as I remembered it, but I still found it worthy of a very good score as some of the Busshari staples still pleased.

Im not sure what changed in Busshari over the last few years, and what took it from being an exceptional night out to an Ok night out.The service for a start was less than helpful. I booked a table for 4 a week prior to our dining, and when we arrived (on time) our table had been given away and we were expected to share a table which on some occasions wouldn't have been a issue, but this was not one of those occasions.

The food still delighted with great sushi rolls like the Dynamite and fresh sashimi platters made right in front of you. The miso soup is good and I am particularly fond of the steamed eggplant with white and dark miso which still tasted incredible and highly addictive. Green tea ice cream is made in house and if sake isn't your thing they do BYO as well with corkage at $8.

The sake list is extensive and appealing warm or cold, and I am always a sucker for those great sake names like "beautiful boy" and "1000 Ostentatiousness".

The interior seemed to be a bit beaten and bruised with the polish lacking around the edges, and old tattered menus looked like the same ones that I had been presented with 6 years ago.

I would return more often for the wonderful food, but the prices no longer scream value for money thanks to the battered interior and...
