We tried this small Xi-an eatery in Burwood suburb recently for a quick, weekend lunch. We ordered their famous pan-fried pork dumpings, lamb soup (yang rou pou mo) and oil-spilled noodle (you po mian). All dishes were nice, authentic Xi-an staple foods and we enjoyed our lunch. All dishes taste good and represent good value for money for their generous portion size. We love the hot lamb soup especially for cold winter days and it came with special chilly sauce and pickled garlic. The noodle dish was well-seasoned and with no meat so good choice for vegetarian people.
The place is small so don't expect much ambience. The customer service could be patchy if you don't speak Chinese Mandarin, but at least the owner/staff members tried to communicate with their broken English. The food service is quite efficient and you don't have to wait too long for your food order.
I paid by cash since I didn't see any sign of them accepting card payment option, but I didn't really mind since the food costs were...
Read moreWhat a great little place & super find. Don’t let the look from street view put you off as the food is well worth stepping inside to find out for yourself, in fact I challenge you not to come back! You will overlook the exterior for the culinary delight your taste buds will experience. We got table for three, we had No. 24, 18 and 33, my spinach noodles were incredibly perfect, the beef was tender as & melted in my mouth. I do suggest to mix because the flavours in this dish is at the bottom, this plate was very filling & refreshingly super. We were so satisfied we didn’t want to spoil our tastebuds. We went for a walk afterwards and can easily say we will definitely be back to try the dumplings next time around. This is a hidden gem 💎 so take the chance on this special little traditional place, it’s well worth a visit, the food tastes...
Read moreDon’t be fooled by the humble appearance of this restaurant, the quality of food was stunning, even when I visited an hour before closing (no photos as a result, we were feeling hungry!) In both dishes that were ordered, the noodles were so thick, bouncy and delicious.
The beef noodle soup’s broth was flavourful and rich without being overbearing at all, it was the perfect level of saltiness too. The xinjiang chicken noodles were also delectable— the sauce was just spicy enough to bring some heat while not being overwhelming. For the price we paid, these dishes were an absolute bargain. The atmosphere was warm and almost like walking into a family kitchen. I would recommend this place highly to anybody looking for delicious handmade...
