Thank you! I had an amazing Saturday night with friends. The karaoke night started around 8pmish and I arrived there at 7:30pm to find a good spot for the karaoke night. You can't book a table on Friday and Saturday during the karaoke night. The lady who ran the karaoke night was lovely and the 3 big screens were big enough to sing together. The machine was playing up so it stopped a couple of music suddenly and it was random that my name was called for singing. Good event to mingle with people however if you want to sing properly and don't want to wait for your turn, you need to go to a professional karaoke

This hotel is conveniently located at one end of China Town. The crowd Covent Garden Hotel attracts is one filled with a diversity of locals, tourists and out of towners. I always love the conversations I have with people from all walks of life there. The outside seating is a great place to sit and just watch and enjoy as the visitors that China Town attracts go by. Great prices, very popular and friendly. Don't forget to try the sweets offered across the way at the window where you see all the locals lining up. The cocktails are a must.

I love this pub. I come to meet friends, sit outside on the corner and watch the people walk by. BUT I today I realised they have replaced the nice white chairs and tables outside along the hotel wall with stools. Not good. Take them back into the TAB room and bring back the chairs. I think most of your customers would agree with me.

MISSY THE CAT RETURNS!

An excellent place to stop over for a drink while waiting for your Chinatown connection. Strongly recommended for occasions when you're in Haymarket and looking to drink and dash.** Friendly staff, decent beer offering, good location, superior people watching, close to the tram. The main shortcoming (at least IMHO) is that it's not the kind of place (nor is it set up) for a comfy afternoon over several pints. If that's not your concern, bump it up a star or two and get amongst it.

** EDIT: Sorry, blast it, I meant having a quick shandy, not skipping out on the bill.

Missy The Cat Star Ratings:

5 - a place of rare genius that merits repeated return visits

4 - a strong effort with no major shortcomings

3 - a solid, worthy effort with perhaps one important thing to fix

2 - several important things wrong, but at least one important thing right

1 - can't be given a zero, doesn't deserve a dollar (as of...

Absolutely the worst place I've ever been in my life...playing the pokies and when the note acceptor jammed i told the teller. I went to the toilet and when i returned the machine(and my credit) was being played by someone else. I told the teller that i had credit in the machine and she called the manager, when he arrived and inspected he told me there was nothing they could do and that I'd lost my money. After 5 minutes of arguments (respectfully and politely) i was told by the manager that he was close to punching me and he walked away. I followed and carried on my case that his establishment has stolen from me and again he walked away. I offered to wipe the money for a free beer for me and my companion and again he walked away. It's appalling that they steal from you then threaten to assault you and ignore you... i never got my...

Like many people I know, I used to be a regular at Karaoke on Friday nights here. Unfortunately the way that karaoke is now run here is such that unless you are a friend or associate of the host you are unlikely to get your turn, at least not in a timely manner. You can arrive at 8:30pm put a sign No on and wait hours,!while others walk in after you and sing several times while laughing and chatting with the host. In the past when the karaoke event was very successful it was run fairly and respectfully. I urge management to look into this and many of your patrons may return if they are shown some fairness by the host. You only need to look at some of the other reviews to see this is an issue. The bar staff and security are friendly, range of drinks and venue is great. Unfortunate that this issue is...
