Dragon Pastry in Sydney’s Chinatown is a fun and unique spot, especially if you’re into creative desserts. We tried the yin and yang soup and a bowl of mixed tapioca and jelly toppings, and both were tasty and different from your usual sweet options.
The yin and yang soup came split down the middle — one half black sesame, the other creamy white almond. It looked great and had a smooth, comforting texture. The sesame side was nutty and rich, while the almond side was lighter and slightly sweet. It’s a warm dessert, kind of like a sweet soup, and really nice if you’re after something soothing.
The tapioca bowl was cold and came with a mix of colourful jellies, chewy pearls, and a lightly sweet syrup. It was refreshing and fun to eat, with different textures in every spoonful. Not too sugary either, which was a plus.
The shop itself is small but super neat, with beautiful pastries on display and friendly service. Prices were fair, and the whole experience felt a bit like discovering a hidden gem. Would definitely go back to try more — especially those pretty pastries we saw...

Read moreDragon Pastry is such a cute little spot! We only discovered it last minute before our flight to the Sunshine Coast, and honestly, I can’t believe we’ve passed by it so many times without noticing. It’s the kind of hidden gem that makes you wonder how you missed it for so long.
The cakes are absolutely delicious — we bought some to take on the plane, and honestly, I regret not buying more flavors to try. Each pastry was fresh, beautifully made, and full of flavor. The texture was perfect, not too heavy but satisfying enough to enjoy as a treat.
What really stood out was how unique their pastries are. It’s not your typical bakery stuff; there’s something special about their style and taste that you won’t find just anywhere. The shop itself is cozy and inviting, making it a great place to stop by for a quick snack or a sweet gift.
