AVOID !!! Beware the Hong Kong big-smiling middle-aged lady with the shark teeth. She gives you a big smiling welcome to sit you down happy, but the food - ugh. Lotsa fake reviews here. We eat ramen every week and tried this place as we happened to be passing today. Soft shell crab was mostly batter, no meat, soggy, disgusting - couldn't eat. Salmon sashimi was OK. Karaage ramen soup tasted like made from powder, and again the chicken batter was soggy and tasted old like it was made earlier or yesterday - unappetising. The Wagyu beef ramen tasted like a cheaper lean beef - not wagyu. Yapping Chinese tourists at next table complaining about their hotel (next door or nearby?) disturbed our peace. All wait staff spoke Chinese - so no Japanese here that I saw. BUT - the WORST was when I got up to go inside to pay to not make a scene in front of tourists. I told the lady the soft shell crab was inedible and didn't want to pay for that - she said 'it's on the bill' - I said 'please remove it' - she said she won't - I said I'd write a bad review - she said "I DON'T CARE" - repeated several times - typical Chinese - only cares about money. Recommend AVOID. Condor/Kondo ramen next door had a lovely young Japanese waitress we chatted to afterwards but she was new and said that chef was Chinese - so expect similar. Lastly Google Maps showed these two restaurants in swapped locations. I can guess this Hong Kong lady did that on purpose so people wanting the other place get tricked into coming to this one. Recommend AVOID. I suspect the crowds of Chinese tourists are brought here by some deal with tour guides for kickback commission. So don't be fooled by the full restaurant. This is a rare case of full restaurant is NOT a sign of good food or service. [UPDATE] noting the pretend apology for bad meal, and more accusations than acceptance, I can advise that the only reason Google Maps locations are in the correct position now is because I asked Google Maps to change them which I think was effected yesterday. so yeah - if you mention an unacceptable dish, and the restaurant manager first repeats "I DON'T CARE!" - three times, and then argues with each point in a review about our unhappy experience, and you still go there - you have been warned !

Unfortunately this is not japanese food - but more like another kind of asian cruisine dressed to appear as japanese. When the miso soup is laced with soy sauce, sesame oil and sesame seeds, then its not miso, but some other concoction. Real miso is a light broth that cleanses the palate - its not a dark soy drink that is salty and oily. For me to not finish the miso soup is really a bad sign. From the menu, I chose the sashimi & teriyaki chicken bento box. The teriyaki chicken was not teriyaki marinated but rather just chicken cooked in soy sauce, very bland - no teriyaki sauce. The sashimi appeared fine at first but was actually the chewy part near the stomach of the fish. Sashimi is traditionally the finer parts of the fish that can be eaten raw without chewing through any tendon hard pieces. Was the food fresh and served hot? Yes. Was the food japanese? NO. Would I go back? Perhaps for a rice bowl- with the mindset to expect asian flavours but not japanese.

First time customer here, stumbled across ‘Goshu Ramen’ whilst wondering the streets of Sydney city. Customer service: Older lady was very nice, younger bloke straightforward but quick and easy ordering ( served free cold tap water) Hygiene: Tables cleanliness half decent, menus are in desperate need of replacement. Average Asian restaurant Wait time: Way too long. 20/30min wait on main meals (Ramen and teppanyaki) Cost: ~$16 for Ramen, ~$18-20 for teppanyaki, -$9 for 6 gyoza Photo attached: Ton ton Ramen & Gyoza Review: Overall the food was ok but nothing special, Ramen was oily, salmon teppanyaki was nice but plain and gyoza over priced. Unsure if this was packet noodles/ gyoza or homemade. It’s more of a uni student takeaway/dine in restaurant for lunch/break. The waiting time was way to long and the quality of the food was ok but overpriced for what it is. I don’t think I’m going to come back or would recommend to anyone ~ not that special

My friend and I tried this restaurant as we always go to the Japanese restaurant next door (Condor - which is excellent) so we thought - let's share the love and try this place out. BIG MISTAKE. The only saving grace is the nice older lady who greets you and tries to make you comfortable (hence the extra star, otherwise this review would've been only 1 star), but everything else and everyone else was mediocre to say the least. The chairs are fold up and flimsy and tables are quite close together, so it's not very comfortable. The food took over 40 mins to come out (when you have only an hour lunch break, that's way too long). I ordered the chicken kareage and prawn gyoza. The kareage was ok but a bit too much flour so left a powdery after taste. The prawn gyoza was NOT fresh. I took one bite and couldn't eat the rest as didn't want to risk getting sick. Also when the server came to clumsily serve the food, two of the gyozas fell on the table. She didn't bother to say sorry either. Plus to top it all off, when we went to pay, the server/cook snapped his fingers at my friend as in to say 'hurry up and tap your card' and my friend was like 'Don't snap your fingers at me, who do you think you are', super rude in my opinion. We will never return and will stick with Condor who is just next door and serves AMAZING FOOD and is quick to bring the food out. Oh and the chairs at Condor are way more comfortable, they don't try to jam pack everyone in, and their service is SO MUCH BETTER, feels like you're back in Japan when you go to Condor.

Anyway, back to the point - don't go to this place, go to Condor next door! Very similar menu, similar prices but the service and food at Condor is leaps and bounds ahead compared...

My experience at Goshu Ramen on York St in Sydney left me thoroughly impressed. From the moment we walked in, we were greeted by a hostess who exuded warmth and hospitality. Her friendly demeanor set the tone for what turned out to be a delightful dining experience.

One of the highlights of my visit was the prompt service. The food arrived at our table with impressive speed, and each dish was served piping hot, enhancing the flavors and ensuring a satisfying meal. The attention to detail in the preparation and presentation was evident, and it made the dining experience all the more enjoyable.

Speaking of the food, it was nothing short of exceptional. I opted for the Wagyu Beef Steak Don, and it was a true indulgence. The succulent slices of Wagyu beef paired perfectly with the bed of rice, creating a symphony of flavors that left me craving for more. My girlfriend chose the Pork Ginger Teppan Yaki Set, and it was equally delightful. The tender pork infused with ginger was a taste sensation.

What's more, the prices at Goshu Ramen were surprisingly affordable, especially considering the quality of the food and service. It's rare to find such value in the heart of Sydney, making Goshu Ramen a standout.

Overall, I can't recommend Goshu Ramen enough. From the warm welcome to the delicious food and reasonable prices, it's a dining destination that exceeds expectations on every level. Whether you're craving ramen or exploring their other offerings like the Wagyu Beef Steak Don or Pork Ginger Teppan Yaki Set, Goshu Ramen is...
