My friend and I got diarrhoea from this place.
I ordered a wagyu sukiyaki beef rice bowl, and being curious, leaned over the counter wall to see how they prepared it. They withdrew a black plastic bowl with rice already inside, from a black (presumably heated) oven thing and then withdrew a clear soft plastic bag full of the toppings for the bowl, again from a black mini oven thing. They then cut the plastic bag open with scissors and dumped the whole thing onto the black plastic bowl with rice. They sprinkled some cabbage and voila, there it is.
The fact they leave the rice in that uncovered bowl and already have everything prepared in the plastic baggy makes it less than ideal for freshness. Who knows how long that has been sitting there? Did they prepare all the beef in the morning and let it sit in the plastic bag in less than the health and safety standard of warmth?
Food authorities list the temperature of 60 celcius or higher for hot cooked foods, especially meat and rice. When I received the bowl of meat and rice, there was no steam or any warmth. It was just lukewarm.
So watch out, is this place really worth the stomach ache and...
Read moreI was at Yatai Ozeki Chatswood and ordered "teriyaki chiken". The dish came really quick and when I started eating I realised the chicken WAS NOT TERIYAKI chicken, it was boiled chicken over which burn marks were made. Absolutely tasteless. I asked the woman, who took my money, how they make teriyaki chicken and she said it was boiled chicken. That's it....! Never again will I eat at Yatai Ozeki. I ordered another dish and the same woman didn't even blink - she didn't ask what happened to the dish they had just served me.Her face fixed in an expression of boredom and disdain. I took the offending teriyaki to her and she just put it away. Then I asked to speak to the boss/cook and he confirmed it was boiled chicken. I then asked if any of them was Japanese and he confirmed none of them was Japanese. I believe that's where the big difference is. FAKE JAPANESE; this should not happen. Additionally the okonomiyaki served with the second dish was a bit off. Just like contributor Emma, I experienced undue flatulence. Food and...
Read moreYatai Ozeki offers a delightful dining experience with its affordable prices and generous portions. The chicken katsu is noted for being fresh and crispy, paired perfectly with nicely cooked rice. The takoyaki stands out for its crunchy exterior and moist interior, complemented by a generous amount of sauce. Customers highly recommend this spot for its affordable price and delicious food. In addition to the great food, the staff at Yatai Ozeki are friendly and helpful, enhancing the overall dining experience. However, it's worth noting that the iced tea served here is exceptionally sweet. If you have a sweet tooth, you may enjoy it, but if not, you may want to opt for a less sweet beverage. Overall, Yatai Ozeki is a fantastic choice for those looking for tasty, affordable Japanese cuisine with excellent service in...
