First of all, the staff we've interacted with were great. The cashier was jolly and fun to talk to, and the lady who served us was friendly and really helpful.
The pizzas looked great, a bit surprised with the mound of chips on the Fat Tony though. Another thing is that all three pizzas were not cut in equal proportions. The pizza I ate, Sammy The Butcher, was tasty and definitely worth with the amount of meat it had. What I found unfortunate is how doughy/chewy it gets when you get near the crust. It became quite the chore to eat.
We were given some chili oil that wasn't spicy at all. It was more of a flavouring. Not bad for the taste, bad for those who want some spice. Furthermore, it doesn't fit pizzas drizzled with additional sauce like aioli.
Surprisingly, we were given free cheesecake (thank you very much) which had a chocolate shell with a caramel underlay and a soft bread(?) base. It is not something I would recommend to order sadly. Not having a crumbly biscuit base with a rather thick layer of caramel simply made it an overly sweet and thick mush.
Overall, we enjoyed the place. Atmosphere was great, all of the staff appeared to be full of life and provided wonderful service, the pizzas didn't take long to be served, and the taste was...
Read moreUPDATE: The management responded to me asking to email them, stating they would like to make it right, so I did. They attempted to send another pizza out that never made it to the house, so I was unable to give an assessment that coincided with their 4.9 rating. Sorry guys, I have to leave my current rating.
Hey guys, I was hoping to give you a better review considering the rating your currently at, but I'm in the middle on this one. I read a review about a pizza being overcooked and thought it was going to be a one off, but sadly it's not. When the pizza and bread sticks arrived, the boxes were very light. I got them in the house and opened them to see that they had been slightly overcooked and burnt. The bread sticks have so much burn on them that they went into the trash because of the taste alone. The pizza wasn't spectacular, and there's so much grease on it, then there are the burnt edges. I went back to your reviews and started to notice a pattern with the burning. I didn't want to go to a large chain from back home so I went with you guys based on rating when I think I would have spent a lot less with them and had some...
Read moreBig fan of Gio’s (usually order from the Rozelle shop) and thought we’d give the Waterloo shop a try on Father’s Day with the family. Went to pick them up and brought them home, only to find that all four pizzas were burnt on top and completely raw dough in the middle. Called the shop and - to their credit - they did accept my request to send out the same order to us via Uber Eats (but did have to spend a frustratingly unnecessary amount of time helping them figure out how to use a map to find a very locatable Erskineville address for delivery). When the rider eventually found our address, I checked pizzas only to find that they were MORE burnt on top yet just as raw and inedible beneath the surface. We caved and did our best to cook them in the oven ourselves, but they were just awful and we were left hungry and disappointed. Woulda been much more appreciated if they just admitted they weren’t up for it and closed until they could figure out how to operate their oven. A huge shame considering the franchise is usually up to a decent standard from...
