Outstanding Dining Experience at Jhonny Hu Restaurant in Cronulla
Rating: ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Jhonny Hu Restaurant in Cronulla, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. This review is a testament to the delicious Chinese food, impeccable service, and the exceptional treatment we received from the owner.
Upon arriving at the restaurant, my party and I were seated outside. Unfortunately, the heater was not working as expected. However, the owner quickly took notice of the situation and promptly offered us a solution. He graciously invited us inside and even treated us to a complimentary drink while the heater was being fixed. This act of hospitality truly went above and beyond our expectations.
From the moment we stepped inside, we were greeted with warmth and friendliness. The owner himself took the time to ensure our comfort and engage us in pleasant conversation. We had the opportunity to discuss some of the other restaurants he owns, and we were genuinely intrigued to try them in the future. His passion for food and dedication to providing an excellent dining experience was evident throughout our interaction.
Now let’s talk about the food. Every dish we ordered was bursting with flavor and expertly prepared. The menu offered a wide range of options, catering to various preferences and dietary restrictions.
What sets this restaurant apart is not only the quality of the food but also the attentiveness of the service. The staff members were attentive, knowledgeable, and eager to accommodate our needs. They made helpful recommendations, ensuring that our dining experience was nothing short of exceptional.
In summary, Jhonny Hu Restaurant in Cronulla deserves nothing less than a five-star rating. The delicious Chinese cuisine combined with the remarkable service made for an unforgettable evening. The owner's genuine care for his guests, demonstrated by his swift actions to rectify the heater issue and his engaging conversation, further added to the overall...
Read moreFood was great but everything else left a lot to be desired. From the waiter who looked (and acted) like he'd just rolled out of bed in his daggy t-shirt and shorts, to waiting 25 mins for the first drink for one of our party, to having to ask for a wine glass 3 times, to having to ask for our table to be cleared 45 mins after finishing eating, then feeling like we'd asked for something completely unreasonable, it was very very average. I understand that the restaurant is only temporary but there is absolutely no pride in it at all. Underneath the tablecloth our table was duct taped together, the padded, decorated backs had fallen off chairs, in the ladies loo, one toilet was blocked, the toilet seat was about to fall off the other and the third was occupied - but the whole bathroom needed a good clean and more regular refilling of the toilet roll dispenser. Then walking out of the toilet, the backs of the fish tank area looked like a dumping ground for everything that didn't have a home. I was so excited to go after hearing great things about the food - which was excellent. But for a restaurant that is relatively expensive, they really need to life their game and take some pride. The one saving grace was one gorgeous waiter who we commandeered when we realised that he would actually do what we asked. Sadly I didn't get his name, but he...

I have previously eaten at Alphabet street (run by the same owners) and had a really great experience. As such, I had fairly high expectations, which unfortunately were not meet. I ordered the Vegan Dumplins, fried rice, and green beans, which were all okay, but overpriced. My friends ordered a variety of meat dishes and felt the same. The overall ambiance of the room was extremely lacking and it felt like a run-down Chinese restaurant that hadn't been revamped in a number of years, rather than the modern bar it has been advertised as. The bathroom appears to be the only place they have put any effort into.
The Alphabet Apple Martinis were just as delicious as ever, however, The Bubble Tea Cocktails were served in plastic and looked like they cost more like $4 as opposed to $18. I feel the place has potential but needs a lot of work. The staff was friendly.
Overall the place has no wow factor and nothing particularly special on offer. So, If you're picking between Alphabet street or Junny Hu, hands down Alphabet street is...
