Top notch Yakiniku ( Japs, Korean BBQ don’t call yakiniku ) that not gonna break your bank hence it’s my #1 choice, quality of the meat + the value for money factor. I go there for the meat quality, charcoal grill and net instead of steel plate at other yakiniku or Korean BBQ. Yes, the place doesn’t look posh, the service not typically the type you get at restaurant ( hey, think again, u are cooking your own dinner at table 😉😉 ) and sometimes, most of the time you will end up sharing table with strangers, and the noise, the smoke, the smell on your cloths or hair, all these unusual sum up the place. You can only book for dinner and each table would come with time limit, 90 mins mostly and no reservations for lunch, 1st come 1st serve and CASH ONLY! Plan your visit properly on Saturday or Sunday lunch, if you missed the 1st sitting meant you will need to wait for 45-90 mins for a spot. Hopefully not manny people like this review so I still can enjoy the place with reasonable crowds. Been hesitate to write this up since I 1st visit them 30 months ago....

Full disclosure:my friend works here. Ordered the pork sausage, gyoza, assorted seasonal vegetables, pork sausage, wagyu beef rib, wagyu beef skirt, pork rib, pork tube, beef tripe, special yukke, Soba. The wagyu beef rib was our absolute favorite, we must have ordered it 4 times! The gyoza was excellent too. Soba was great and filling too. I'm not a fan of intestines or raw beef so didn't particularly like the yukke and pork tube, but that can be a personal preference. The rest of the mean was pretty good . This place does one thing right , the food . If you notice the sign board it has this guy who is red and has tears in his eyes , that's what you get for the ambience, you will be sweaty, teary and sharing tables. But one thing that will not complain is your tongue . This is not a date place . And don't bother with bookings.

I have a review from 3 years ago and my most recent review. Updated review: I have been going to Kashiwa for 5 years now. Ever since their expansion, the quality of the meat and their service has gone down tremendously. Most notably, the pork rib option which used to be thicker and more tender slices of meat (you can see a photo from the restaurant 3 years ago) but now it is so paper thin that it burns quickly on the grill. I've been two times since they expanded the venue and thought maybe it was just a one-off with the meat quality but when I went the second time it was exactly the same. The portions have gotten smaller and the prices have gotten more expensive and not on par with quality. Very disappointed as a long-time customer and quite sad that my local Japanese BBQ joint is no longer my favourite place to eat. Some other cons: they are still a cash only business which is inconvenient especially after operating for so long and they are only open 3 hours a day now. Pros are that they now serve alcohol when previously they didn't. Original review from 3 years ago: My favourite place for Japanese bbq!! The meat is top quality and the marinade is so tasty! I really recommend their pork and short rib wagyu, it melted in my mouth! Their prices are really good for value compared to other places and service is good. You do need a booking though as you won't be seated without one depending on how busy it is. The only reason why I give it 4 stars is because of the 1 hour dining limit, I usually don't spend more than an hour eating but I felt pressured to constantly look at the time instead of just enjoying the food and atmosphere. The hour limit should probably be extended for people who order more food or for larger groups of people. I'd love to have a dinner here with my friends or family but the time limit turns me off. However, I do understand that they are only open for a few hours unlike other BBQ places and why the time limit is needed.

I recently visited this restaurant and noticed a significant change in management. While it used to be a good spot, my recent experience was disappointing. The restaurant's expansion, incorporating neighboring shops, seemed promising, but both the customer service and food quality have taken a sharp nosedive. The friendly Japanese waitstaff have been replaced with less welcoming Asian servers who lack smiles and have off-putting attitudes. We had a reservation for 7:30pm but arrived at 7:20pm. The initial seating offered was a table right by the main door with a constant draft and no chairs. When we declined and considered leaving, the waitress abruptly claimed it was because we arrived early. However, we decided to wait, and within a minute, we were given a better table inside the restaurant, which made me question the earlier explanation. Throughout this interaction, the waitress maintained an unfriendly demeanor. Our order consisted of several meat dishes, all of which were excessively fatty. The meat quality was shockingly poor, and it's safe to say that I've never encountered such fatty cuts at any Yakiniku restaurant in Sydney. Regrettably, the poor food quality resulted in digestive issues for both my friend and me after the meal. In conclusion, I strongly recommend avoiding this restaurant. The decline in food quality and service, coupled with the high prices, make it an unappealing dining option.

Pretty good japanese bbq on sydney. What the best here is the price. They got fairly cheap price compared to their other competitor their meat price range from 8 to 25 per plate. All the meat tasted good, especially their ox tongue, never tasted it before but the best here i think. The place bit crampy tho, and really busy and usually got long que, and u saw many complaining about didnt got the table after long que, but you can book your table and they will tell you the availability. I always book the table before coming, so i dont have to wait long. Anyway if u looking for jbbq, u shud add this place to your must try list.

Great Yakiniku restaurant, there was change of management since my first visit and it has expanded as well. We walked in for a Tuesday dinner at 6.30pm and it was fully booked. The staff managed to give us a table for an hour before the next booking. Food was good and menu has good selection of bbq options and cooked dishes. Overall good experience. ET - 01/03/2022 Went for lunch and had the 4 selection for $23.50 lunch special, and the meal came with rice, miso soup and salad. Little neighbourhood gem, good quality food and recommended.
