We've been here a few times, it seems to have the cheapest pints of Guinness around Sydney (add a dollar on the next corner west, or double the price near Town Hall station). The staff have always been pleasant and friendly, the food quite good. Be aware that lunch is NOT available on Sunday. As that is the cheap public transport day, it seems a bit silly - more so when the bar staff have mentioned a few times that SO many people come looking for lunch on Sunday. Hopefully management will wake up soon & realise how much they are losing out on. If I have to eat elsewhere, I may as well drink there. The pub is roughly half way between Central and Town Hall stations, an easy walk from either station (getting back is 1/2 the fun).

We stopped in because the prices were right and it was on our way to our next destination. We read the reviews and went with the steak, though the reviews didn't specify which steak was good just a broad generalization that the "steak was good". We got the T bone medium rare with mash. I ordered the garlic butter (which is an upcharge) which came on the side and was solid butter with garlic and was enough for 2 people so split that and save your self a couple bucks. My boyfriend ordered the mushroom sauce (also upcharge) which looked like gravy, it was thick, same portion as the garlic butter, enough for only 1 though. Both steaks were medium rare and tasty though we found them a bit tough in places and fatty around the edges. The mash was perfect especially with the garlic butter which we shared. Overall the meal was filling, if I went back I'd order a different cut of steak. This place doesn't offer table service which is strange to me given the size of the place, order at the bar and they will give you one of those vibrating things. The service was so- so as it was limited to ordering and picking up the food. I can understand where other reviewers are coming from as this place does seam to cater to a younger crowd. I didn't have a problem with the music, but it was around 3pm on a Monday. I heard something similar to Taylor Swift and also Tracy Chapman, those were the only ones I knew. Overall price wise it was worth it.

Hi, today I went to Maloney's after school in a group of friends at 4:30 pm. I went to the bar to order a beer and the barman had a very bad attitude with me, talking to me in a very angry way because I did not understand something he told me. You should be used to attending students who do not know how to speak English very well, in fact the bar is always full of students from all over the world. After the little problem with the bartender, the manager of the bar approached me, but finally he made things worse by telling me that I had to leave the premises. This seems discrimination for us immigrants and more serious because I am a client and I do not deserve a bad treatment in any part of the world. I also want to add that my friends told me that they have already had similar experiences and that this would not be the first time that their bar incurs discriminatory acts. I want you to know that everything that happened at the bar I have recorded on my cell phone in case they believe that what I say is not true. Regards Franco Hidalgo

Ordered Rump special for $18, fish and chips and the trio of tacos (vegetarian) Fish and chips and tacos were below average and somewhat edible given how hungry we were. The steak was the extremely low point - not something you should be serving to people. Completely rubbish piece of steak which was one of the most tough and chewiest meat Iโve ever eaten - managed to eat only half of it. Tasted like it had been frozen for sometime which also adds to the negative experience. Mash potato tasted very processed and stuck together unnaturally as seen in photo! In addition I received stomach pains as a result of this meal. I will not be coming back to this joint for another meal again. Very disappointing!

Abhorrent serving, none of the staff can properly pour a pint of Guinness. Totally cloudy after not keeping glass tilted at 45 degrees on first pour. Second pour top up resulting in 25mm head. Unacceptable yet management can't discern or actually care so what chance do the staff have? Irrespective that I'm paying $7 because I'm only getting four fifths of a pint. I'm not coming back even though I work just across the road. I'd rather walk 15 minutes to King Street and get a proper pint from a true Irish pub being PJ O'Briens
