TERRIBLE SERVICE, EXTREMELY RUDE WAITRESS, BAD FOOD....POSSIBLY THE WORST RESTAURANT I HAVE BEEN TO IN SYDNEY.
I decided to try this place after seeing it had a good rating on google and wanted to try something new for my date night. We made reservation, and when we got there, saw the restaurant is more than 2/3 empty on a Saturday night. This should have been our sign to leave, but we were fooled by the high ratings..
A women answered us at the door, but didnt even bother to walk us to our seats. As we were sitting, she hadn't even said 2 words and right away as we are still trying to sit down , she asks "what do you want for drinks" Then, she grabbed the dinning napkins and literally THREW IT on us. Me and my partner looked at each other with absolute utter shock "did this just happen", Did she just actually THROW the napkins on us??. At this point in the service, i was convinced we should leave because you can already foreshadow what is going to happen, but my gf said lets not let one rude lady ruin the dinner.
After that a gentlemen started attending our table(i think it was the owner). He was nice, but very quite and expressionless, It made us a bit uncomfortable. We ordered the Calamari for starters and the prawn pasta for entree. The calamari was very bland and chewy and tough, no lemon, no salt , no flavour. In all fairness, i told them about my herb allergy so they put the garnish on the side. However, it still could have had lemons and salt and pepper. Definitely was not fresh and had been previously frozen.
The pasta came, it was DISGUSTING. It was tough and chewy, no flavour whatsoever and soaked in OIL(look at pics). No sauce other than the oil. It was covered in raw spinach that was crunchy and not sautéed . I waited for one these 2 people that was attending us to come by(keep in mind the restaurant is almost empty) and ask how the food is, not one of them showed up. I finished my food but my gf couldnt even finish it and left it 2/3 full. They literally come to the table and clean without saying one word or asking us how the food was. When you see that one of the individuals has barely touched their food, you generally get a sense that they didnt like it, so the very least is you ask "how was everything tasting?" Then again, the rude waitress(possibly owner's wife) comes and literally THROWS(no exaggeration) desserts menus on the table and walks away, without speaking one word to us. We didnt even want dessert, we just wanted the bill and to get out. The nicer gentlemen came by after 15 minutes and said, "nothing?", and we asked for the bill. Again, not word of communication, not asking us how the food was. It all started to make sense why this place is empty on a Saturday night in a prime location. The bill was $100 between the 2 of us, and we didnt have any drinks or dessert. I would have felt better if i had lost the $100 in the casino because at least i would have enjoyed my time doing it . NEVER AGAIN!
I had also put a review on trip advisor and i strongly suggest you guys to read the managers/Chef? response...his response to the review will sum up how the service and attitude of people there working are...NOw I know why it was dead on a...
Read moreFirst time at this restaurant and I will definitely be back! The service here was just amazing. George was very attentive and looked after our table all evening. Such a lovely gentleman and definitely made my first experience here, one to remember.
They have a great menu with a lot of variety and everything looked delicious. We ordered a few starters which included this beautiful ‘Grilled Cyprus Haloumi'. It was served with vine ripened tomatoes, olives and asparagus and it was just perfect.
We also ordered some ‘South Australian King Prawns’ which were pan fried with garlic and cherry tomatoes. Prawns were cooked perfectly and the sauce they came was delicious!
The rest of the entrees included ‘Hawksberry Salt & Pepper Calamari’ which can I just say, was amazing! A lot of times, the batter on calamari can be really thick and oily but this was just perfect because it felt like I was eating the calamari instead of batter. We also ordered some Sourdough bread that came with oil and a whipped caraway seed butter and a fresh Greek salad!
I am huge on sharing food, even main dishes. It keeps the dining experience fun and exciting and we made sure we ordered a variety of dishes.
For pasta, we ordered the ’Saffron Angel Hair” which included prawns, smoked salmon, wilted baby spinach, garlic and chilli. This was a nice change from the usual seafood pasta dish I order which is usually in a red sauce.
One of their specials was a ’Seafood Lasagne’. We just had to order it, simply because we’ve never heard of it before and we wanted to give it a try! This really surprised me in a good way. It wasn’t “fishy” and it was a smooth and delicious dish.
For our meat dish, we ordered the ‘220gm Grain Fed Beef Eye Fillet’. It was served with a veal jus, mash potato and kale. Of course, it was cooked to perfection and the mash was smooth and creamy.
One of their main specials was ‘Duck Breast’ and this was served with polenta and a beetroot salad. This was one of my favourites for the night. Duck was cooked perfectly and I am a HUGE fan of polenta! The beetroot paired well with the duck and added a little freshness to the dish.
We were so full from dinner but we needed to try some dessert! They were so kind enough to serve up a dessert platter which included Crème Brûlée, 3 types of ice cream, tiramisu and a honeycomb and marshmallow ice-cream sandwich with cherry coulis. The tiramisu was my favourite! It was the perfect way to end...
Read moreAwful. Tasteless. Atrocious service. We ordered room service via the Hyde Park Inn. They brought the food without utensils or seasoning. The "spaghetti Bolognese" (we requested extra cheese) was actually unsalted papradelle with some horrible flavorless stew meat cubes on top. I was too exhausted to deal with it in the moment and assumed since we had a few days in the hotel it would be taken care of.
We complained to the hotel staff in the morning when we asked for extra breakfast items as we'd eaten ours up the night before...they took out the full plate of food and they told us "good luck, you should have complained right away"
The next day we went into the restaurant and complained. Their response was "everyone eats this, it's rustic style". They would not give a refund and didn't even offer a compensatory meal. Nothing but a look of disgust and a dismissive wave.
We complained to the hotel and they agreed the food was awful, that there were many complaints about not enough salt, and that the restaurant commonly would not hear complaints.
A long story to say, don't bother...
