Okami Japanese restaurant is a newly-opened restaurant creating a buzz in the local Shire community. Just a stones throw from the main Cronulla Mall drag, it’s a great option for relaxed dinner with friends or a fun foodie date. For $35 all-you-can-eat, you’ll be hard-pressed to find a better value Japanese meal in the area!

Walking into Okami, you’ll find the place warm with simple modern Japanese decor. Once seated, get yourself familiar with the menu - you’ll be ordering as much as you like all night! There are plenty of options for everyone tastebuds, including gyoza, salads, spring rolls, rice, noodles, takoyaki, chicken kaarage and a whole range of main meat dishes. While most of the offerings are geared towards meat-eaters, there’s also a decent selection of vegetarian dishes as well.

Okami also offers sushi and sashimi platters, although we found these to be a bit average for us. Truthfully, we weren’t expecting much from the sushi (considering the all-you-can-eat nature of the establishment), so no bad blood from us there.

Our advice: skip the boring fillers like spring rolls and rice, and get stuck right into the meaty mains.

The highlight for us here at Okami was the beef carpaccio, drizzled with ponzu and wasabi mayonnaise. We ordered far more plates of this delicious dish than we’d like to admit! The miso steak came in at a close second, small bites of tender beef cooked to perfection.

Despite being busy, we didn’t have to wait too long for our orders to be served. They did a great job of keeping on top of everyone’s orders, with food constantly streaming out of the kitchen hot and fresh. This was an impressive feat considering most tables were 5-10 people, with everyone ordering multiple dishes at the same time.

The staff here are friendly, although they did come across as a bit tired. It was very a busy Saturday night service though, so this could have been why!

Overall, we’d recommend checking out Okami out if you’re in the market for a wholesome...

Monday night 10th December 2024 at 8.30pm we(3 people)arrived at the restaurant realising it was late we checked the closing time was 10pm. There was only 3 tables of people in the restaurant at the time. We ordered some food using the bar code as we had done on the many times we have been to the restaurant in the past. We ordered another couple of plates of food and at 9pm we were abruptly told be a female staff member that the kitchen was closing and she would take our last orders. I said but advertised is that you don’t close until 10pm and we only got here at 8.30pm and if we knew you were going to do this we would have gone somewhere else. The staff member tried to justify this stating it is the kitchen staff that make this rule so I told her very clearly this was not good enough. We should have been told this when we entered the restaurant at 8.30pm before we ordered any food. We were forced to order many plates of food in one order and much of it got cold before we were able to eat it. When you advertise closing time as 10pm and you still have customers until that time that is when cleaning up starts. It is very rude and unprofessional of your staff to be rude and hurrying up customers which greatly affects there meal experience just so your poor staff can go home early. As I said earlier we have eaten at the restaurant many times and never experienced such poor customer service. Very...

Extremely disappointing in terms of food quality and service. We ordered the deluxe set for delivery - having been in isolation we wanted to have something nice so this seemed like a good option. Our order was delivered 90 minutes after being placed only for half of the dishes to be missing. The items that managed to be delivered were cold and tasteless. The teriyaki beef looked like chunks of boiled meat with burnt sauce on one side. The karaage chicken was battered and in no way tasted like karaage chicken does at other restaurants. The chicken katsu and other fried dishes were cold and greasy and the rice had so much sesame oil on it it was borderline unpalatable. We tried to call the restaurant repeatedly only for it to ring out leaving us with no way to rectify the issue.

Clearly their previous remarks on reviews about retraining staff to ensure better customer satisfaction are either empty words or falling on deaf ears. Would absolutely not recommend you bother eating here; spend your hard-earned...

First time dining experience was disappointed. Paying for $36.8 per person on eat all you can is not worth it if you receive from frozen food packets. They are not home made products. Like eating cardboard paper. The miso soup no flavour taste as like as water, the chicken curry is literally bland and the chicken is like a rubber obviously on the photo attached did not ate it. The beef steak is so chewy. The only I could give 1 star is the sushi and sashimi platter after we tried most of the dish it's terrible!! I feel sick after eating their crapped dish. It's a shame that their business is a Japanese restaurant that should be serving freshly made not from frozen packets!! I said to the waiter to pass my feedback to the chef but he did not shown any interest to gather more info about the feedback. I spent $150 for 3 people including drinks but I rather spend that money somewhere else to get better quality meal. I won't bother to go back anymore. Don't bother to try because it's a waste.

We visited in Australia Day 2022. First of all I would like to confirm that the customer service was very poor. They were very unwelcoming! The person (male) look like they didn’t want us to enter the restaurant then as soon as we sat down, they took forever to serve us (took 15-20 minutes) to give us any attention, and when the girl finally noticed us, she looked annoyed & took our order! She only demonstrated rudeness and annoyance. The yakiniku beef Don tasted like Lamb (I didn’t enjoy it! The prawn gyoza was ok! But overall I didn’t have the best experience here! First tip is be friendly and welcoming to your customers otherwise goodbye sayonara 👋✌️👋✋ The 2 younger male and female were plain rude! the elderly lady that brought the food out was somewhat nice to us!! I won’t visit ever again! Disappointed!
