Make sure you pay attention to the cost of your drinks here . We ordered drinks during happy hour and the bar staff changed the prices continually until they realised we were all together. The prices are based on how Much the bar staff can try and scam you for. I’m addition to this The ginger beer was dead flat with zero CO2. When I told the bar tender they offered to make me a new one which was odd because until they change the CO2 it will just be flat like the first . …In the end we just said ok fine don’t worry about it - we have been spending happy hour in the palace every afternoon and this will be the last time we ever go there . Really really unprofessional bar staff . Terrible and unskilled and be very careful because they will over charge you if they think they can skim extra $ from you - so take note of the prices you pay here - because the var staff changed our prices every time a new person bought around until they realised we wher together

The place has an old pub charm with dark wood paneling and seating that feels rustic and comforting. The staff were kind and attentive with no issues with ordering. I ordered a rump steak, medium rare with mushroom gravy and the salad. The steak was juicy but would be better classified as medium well. It lacked seasoning and lacked charring for that preferred grilled taste. The gravy was a little too thick and tasted store bought. It overpowered the steak but paired a little better with the fries. The salad was fresh and light which didn't need much help with seasoning as the light dressing was subtle and tangy. Overall it is a nice place to sit with friends and have a drink and a bite but I'll be trying something different from their menu next time around

PLEASE READ - I had such a terrible experience at the palace hotel and can safely say I will never go back. My friend and I came here for lunch. We had a beer each while waiting for our meal. After eating our below average & over priced food (honestly do not bother re food, absolutely disgusting. All frozen and re heated) we proceeded to order and pay for two vodka and OJ's we sipped on our drinks and both where just Orange juice. I politely told the staff member who apologised and said she would fix them. A minute later the female manager walked outside to our table and said 'you have to leave after your meals. You must be very drunk if you cannot taste the alcohol in your drinks' I was so shocked , upset and embarrassed. I explained to her we had consumed half a scooner of beer each before our meal and that we both had small children at pre school so there was not a chance we could have been intoxicated even if we wanted to! She stood over us like the large manly thug that she is and demanded we leave. I was so embarrassed as there were tables full of patrons watching on. Never again and I have shared my story with family and friends who will never step foot in that disgusting place. Please do not give someone so rude and cruel your business. I was so upset as a mother that another women would do this to myself and my co worker. Shame on you butch lady / manager CHRISTOPHER STONE I HAVE JUST NOTICED YOUR REVIEW. THIS IS WHAT HAPPENED WITH OUR DRINKS ALSO. HOWEVER WE PAID THE $18 FOR TEO VODKA OJ's AND RECIVED PURE ORANGE JUICE. HOW MANY OTHER PATRONS ARE THEY DOING...

6 of my colleagues were there for drinks on the 17th dec. The glass collector took our basket of wedges that still had a couple of wedges in it and they were clearly not scraps. We were busy chatting and he left very quickly without even asking if we are done. The afternoon was not even busy ! I went to the glass collector and basically just said you should’ve asked if we were done with the wedges. The manager (heavily bleached orange haired Asian man - I don’t have his name) was next to him and said he will bring out more wedges, I didn’t really ask for free wedges..he brought out 6 pieces of wedges in a basket, wow so thoughtful. 40 mins in this bar .. Two of my colleagues went to get some more drinks, the same manager said we were intoxicated and won’t serve us!!! The security guard was utterly confused too because we were not doing anything wrong and we were hardly on our second drink! The manager said we were laughing at him, so it was clear he was playing a revenge game with the customers! We were laughing and talking it was a pub! What a great way to lose business from regulars. So...

Was taken to lunch today for my birthday by colleagues. Ordered the special on the same number as half of my table.

Watched the other half of my table get served first. Fair enough. Watched another two tables of 3+ people each get served before my table. Watched the rest of my table get served, with the first half having nearly finished their meal. Watched the second half nearly finish before I got up and had to ask where my meal was. Was asked "Oh, were you the special". Obviously something had gone wrong. Told them everyone had nearly finished and we had to leave very soon. Was told sorry, meal would be there 3 mins. Meal arrived quite a bit later than 3 mins. Had enough time to eat it before enjoying 5 more minutes of conversation before everyone had to leave. Colleagues commented that they could have made Bolognese on bread faster at work, but in your defense, you might have lost the can opener. Not a single offer to make it better. Not one. Plenty of sorries though. Not a good experience, and one I don't plan to have again as I and my colleagues will be taking our business...
