Updated based on 3 visits over Jan-Feb 25 What some of the reviews have noted is right- the menu seemed to have changed to a very basic breakfast fare and it seems to be all day breakfast with tapas style dishes only served at night. The service still needs work but we probably would limit our visit as we have primarily enjoyed their lunch menu/late arvo. Now that they only serve this for dinner it’s probably not worth our time.

Right downstairs from it’s sister, soluna, sol is a more relaxed cafe that converts into a wine bar at night. With lots of pastries to try, it has a simple yet effective breakfast menu. Whilst there was nothing wrong with the food, we wished it was a little more daring and differentiated- but it’s possible that it’s new and they’re looking to be conservative at the beginning. We didn’t get to try the pastries but we did try the cake. The pandan basque cake was delicious but possibly too heavy for us. The brioche like bun with fresh cream whose name I cannot recall was a stunner. Service was good - compared to soluna it certainly was a significant improvement; so I wasn’t sure if I agreed with the reviews here. We visited at 1105 wanting to have lunch but were disappointed that they only switched at 1200. The lunch menu was what enticed us to visit, but we will be back perhaps in a month or two to try it. For breakfast - we wouldn’t be rushing immediately back (unless they made their menu more...

So we went to Sol for an early dinner on the first day. I also expect there to be hitches on day one of operating but all went super well and they were quite busy - so I’d suggest some of the other reviews are one off. In fact - we don’t even know it was day one until we got to the end of dinner and I asked how long they had been open!

We started with 2 Negroni’s, made with Oscar 697 - and they were great. We then moved onto the food - bread, mortadella, Bonito, gnudi, trout, and squid. All of the dishes were tapas sized and perfect to share. The flavours were fantastic, and complimented each other very well. A wise tip from our waitress - get some bread and save it for moping up the sauces later in the meal!!

It will be great to see a few more winded offered by the glass. What they did have was great, but I think a few more would fit with the evening bar vibe.

We finishes off with the glazed chocolate mousse. Service the whole evening was attentive and excellent - our waitress was superb and we will definitely be heading back. Super happy to see something like Sol open for dinners in this part of...

Hello, I would like to sharing on your service a little bit. We went to use the service on Sunday. The atmosphere of your shop decoration is very good, beautiful and modern. The color tones used for decoration are very good. But the service of your staff is quite bad and there is no service mild. We spent about 5 minutes waiting for a table. The staff saw us but they did not greet us and did not provide any service or information about which service we should use. We had to go ask your staff if we could sit at any table. The staff answered yes, but the available tables were full of plates and glassware that had not been cleared. When it was time to order, we had to wait for the staff to be free for more than 5 minutes. We ordered cake and coffee. The coffee was bland and the 3 cakes that we ordered were dry like they were too old. We could not eat them at all. I was very disappointed. So I wanted to share it with you, but everything is just my personal opinion on the service. Not everyone may be treated the same as me. But I will not forget to praise that your shop is designed and decorated beautifully...

I’ve always loved the location and vibe here, but lately the food and service have really gone downhill. This morning I waited over 20 minutes for a simple coffee — and it wasn’t even busy. When I asked about it, instead of just making the coffee, the staff spent time looking through receipts and time stamps. I had a table number and no coffee — it should’ve been obvious. They did offer a complimentary croissant as an apology, but I’m glad I didn’t actually pay for it. It was cold, dry, and tasted like something straight from a supermarket packet. It’s disappointing to see such complacency from the kitchen and front-of-house staff, including the manager. The charm and attention to quality that once made this place great just aren’t there anymore. I really hope they lift their game — the setting deserves better.

Did someone say Cornetto Croissant? 😍🥐🥐🍦🍫 There's nothing like unwinding with the things you love and the people who make your heart happy. I spent a lovely Saturday in North Sydney, indulging in a delicious lunch with amazing friends. We treated ourselves to a spread of adorable mini dishes that were almost too cute to eat (almost!). Our lunch goodies included: ~ Tea and lattes to warm our hearts ~ Pickled cucumber and whipped roe - a refreshing combo ~ Smoked salmon, cream cheese, and dark rye - my fave! ~ Crispy Cornetto croissants filled with creamy goodness Red velvet Cake And the pièce de résistance: semolina olive oil and basil cake (soft, fluffy, and divine!) Love the food, the ambience & the service was exceptional.
