Visited two new ramen place this week and coincidentally both turned into licensed bars after 5pm. Ramen Shinzu only opens for lunch Mon to Wed from 11am to 2pm. You only have one option on the menu, I.e their Tonkotsu Ramen. This place is managed by a Team-of-One, hence a slightly longer wait for the food. I can assured you, it’s worth the wait. Service is amazing, you get greeted by the cook while he is cooking and later serving you in between clearing the table. As for the ramen, you get a medium rich broth that you know that has been stewing for hours and days. The ramen is served with a juicy slice of chasu that is flame torched in front of you. All this for a princely sum of $12. Amazing value !! If you work or live around the Crows Nest area, this is a must try restaurant that you cannot missed. I planned to back here for lunch...

We stopped by relatively late (~9:30) on the drive home from a function hoping to get a few small dishes. We were able to be seated outside and ordered a couple of beers and a few dishes to share as planned. The shokunin was very delicious, and the Orion dark was a bit lighter than expected. The braised pork belly (and complementary mixed nuts) came first, which we initially thought was a little dry but it really soaked up the delicious sauce well. The mixed sausage plate was also quite delicious, and the hotplate worked well for a cold, windy night. The kimchi and natto don was the last to come, a combination I hadn't had previously but it absolutely worked; the kimchi also was not particularly spicy to just enough...

This little "hole in a wall" standing bar ("Tachinomi" literally translates to stand-up bar in Japanese) is likely the smallest bar in Sydney/Australia. What they lack in room size, they more than make up for it with their various and awesome offerings. The beverages are uniquely Japanese, from the much loved chu-hai's to rare and high-end whiskeys. You'll seriously go cross-eyed looking at their smorgasbord of liquid goodies. The friendly and professional staff also provide an assortment of light menu items. From instant noodles, various snacks to one-off specials such a curry rice or ramen. If you're in Crows Nest and fancy a tipple, a stop at Tachinomi YP is a muuuuuust. Standing is...

Cosy little Japanese bar with great vibes. Food was surprisingly ok considering most of it was not freshly cooked. Katsu curry was definitely the highlight. Pork belly was tasty but not really worth $11. Salt kogi chicken very salty and a little bland. 2023 update. Came for drinks and got the grapefruit and yuzu sours. Whilst they were both made to order, there was minimal lemon or grapefruit flavour to the drink. I appreciate the no added sugar but, perhaps, a yuzu or grapefruit based liquor could have been used instead? Wouldn't recommend the house made sours at $16 each especially
