For a locals' pub, the only things the Glen lacks are: a kitchen walk through traffic from students.
I've never quite understood why the students flooding towards Redfern Station from the University don't use the Glen, I know I would. As a local the pub has a friendly bunch of locals. If you gamble there's Keno and a TAB. There are three televisions that usually play sport, but they will negotiate with you. There's also a jukebox that's free at least one night a week.
Regarding the kitchen, there are plenty of cafes in the immediate area, and a couple of late opening take-aways.
The Glen boasts always cheap jugs, and they are. For the more obscure drinker, they usually keep one dark beer on, and at the moment it is Old Kent Brown, a beer rarely seen in Sydney. They have a bunch of different promotional week nights, but perhaps the nicest time is a weekend afternoon in the front bar, sitting at the table relaxing.
Oh yeah, they do eftpos payment for jugs and stuff...

A good solid honest neighbourhood pub. Friendly, helpful staff. It's managed to preserve a certain amount of the heritage old school atmosphere in the front rooms. I will admit that I didn't feel a strong urge to rush back. Perhaps it's simply a matter of timing, but it was quiet and feeling a bit lonely and sad when I stopped by. However, I could see this bumped up to a four if I'm ever passing by when it's more happening.

Generous portions with all the condiments! Brett and the Team down there at the Garry are doing an amazing job!! The place had a great atmosphere with the best inner city craft beers on tap and in the bottleshop all whilst receive EXCELLENT service!! Brett has kept it very personal and authentic bringing back vintage pub and alcohol memorabilia on the walls. Screens are big and clear for sport in one section. The menu is clear on screens and its all the food you crave. Courtyard out the back along the side is a smart addition!! Love this Gem of a pub in Darlington/Redfern!! Very proud to have it...
