A story of visiting a friend - Today is our last visit hereㅡㅡ
We ordered 1 carbonara, 1 half and half pizza, 1 ginger beer and ate deliciously, and my husband came back after paying, but he said that we probably overpaid and asked why the pizza was so expensive (We are both the type who don't check receipts often) I asked how much it was, and he said it was $80. As expected, I didn't get a receipt
So I checked the menu again and even if there was a weekend charge, it couldn't be $80 for 2 dishes and 1 drink
So while my husband was waiting outside, I went to the counter and asked if they could check the bill again. We ordered 2 dishes and 1 drink and it was $80.
The manager tapped the calculator and asked if we had a cash-all card, and then called the employee who had paid and checked our bill, and said something, and then gave me 10 dollars in change and said, I hope you are being honest with me I was a little annoyed when I heard my mother-in-law who was next to me
I told the manager that we should be honest with you and double check with the staff, and the manager said, “It’s okay, you don’t need to be upset with me. I gave you the balance so just take it and go.” Damn it!! I was getting even angrier on the other side. But since I speak limited English, I just took the money and left. Then I went to my husband and nagged him. I took his money and went back to the store and said, “Hey!” and tried to check the situation with the manager again, but the manager suddenly said, “Pepole makes mistakes, but it wasn’t us who made the mistake, so you should apologize and ask why you’re doubting us!”
Anyway, it wasn’t a perfect ending. I took the $10 and the dishonor, so I decided not to go there again.
It's not carbonara, it's pasta with scrambled eggs. It's overcooked so the egg yolk is cooked. So I put the oil, noodles, and eggs...
Read moreThis place looks absolutely quaint and lovely. We sat outdoors and had beautiful views of the area and partial view of the Harbour Bridge. Staff were polite but just needed a little bit more of hospitality training. After ordering food I asked if I could keep another menu to browse incase I wanted to add to my order and to give me a bit of time to take a look at my options. After what seemed like only 30secs the worker came back and asked me what I'm ordering. I said that I had not yet finish looking at the menu items. The staff they returned 3 more times to ask what I'm ordering. I smiled politely and asked if I could have just a few more mins to look and decide. Another 2 staff members came up to ask again if I decided. I just ordered any item randomly to just end the constant but innocent bombardment of being asked. The food was overpriced and a bit on the disappointing side. The 'large' pizza was thin and toppings scarce. The softdrink I ordered was just a warm glass with the drink already poured in. It tasted like an imitation version brand of the softdrink poured into the warm glass (no ice) and had poured into a small glass and but filled to the top. I didn't get my money's worth for the drink. Also the lasagne was lukewarm and room temp in the centre. The bechamel sauce was nowhere to be found. I thought the use of soy sauce in the pasta as mentioned in the menu sounded a bit strange considering they described it as "authentic italian".
I have to admit that thee atmosphere sitting outside was nice and it had a charming look with the decor etc. But I didn't come for the decor or atmosphere, the food was supp to be the main event but it's the only part that let me down.
It wasn't my worst experience but will just described my rating as a bit under...
Read moreReally bad service! Wish I could leave 0 stars. Don't bother if you're solo. Unnecessary and undocumented surcharge on EFTPOS.
Sat upstairs facing a brick wall that has been defaced with graffiti -2 stars at the very start from having to look at a swastika no one has bothered to remove.
Ordered the spagetti garlic, a garlic bread and the house red.
House red is below average and not worth $7.
Waiter eventually walked around the corner, plonked the plate of spagetti on the table and walked away, zero interaction without the customer - also zero cutlery.
Waited nearly 5 min for a easier to come past, he died the plate of garlic bread, I assume he didn't hear me say "excuse me" as we moved on immediately.
As the next waiter came by, I liked him in the eye and said "excuse me" again and waved, he looked at me and kept moving.
At my slightly muttered "what the hell", the waiter behind me serving drinks asked if he could help and got me cutlery.
Spagetti was over cooked, garlic was pretty light, very heavy on oil, I could have cooked the same thing at home and done a better job, not worth $22
Garlic bread was nice.
As I watched the servers interacting with other customers it became obvious to be that as a solo traveler, I just wasn't worth their time or effort.
So I took my time, ate very slowly and took up a table.
Got downstairs to pay, the person stopped serving be to answer the phone - 3 other waiters standing around doing not much.
$38 total, then got told there was a $1 surcharge, which is bollocks and the final straw, hence this detailed review of...
