Was severely disappointed when I dined at kishi for the first time.
I ordered the meguro bento and was excited because Japanese cuisine have been known to be very good when it comes to cooking with fish.
My food arrived and it was quite cold. The tuna wasn't seared properly and the sauce on top of it, lacked any noticeable flavor. the salad had a marble size amount of dressing. the lotus chips looked like it was cooked a few hours before hand and was kept warm under a heat lamp. and the worse part, they gave me a baby fist size rice. a baby's fist amount! what kind of an asian restaurant serve that much rice?? rice is a staple food in asian cuisine i expected kishi to do the same but no. I could've at the entire serving of rice in one bite.
I also ordered the takoyaki, hoping that it could at least be redeemed by it. but no. the takoyaki was the worse. it was cold! the texture felt like one of those frozen takoyaki you get from the supermarket. it didn't have the right amount of seasoning. it was all bland.
as an asian who dined at kishi, I was severely disappointed by how the food was. it was all bland lacked any noticeable flavor. It almost tasted like your stereotypical white people food.
I am entirely sure if this was just for the food I ordered but come on. where is the consistency?? I am a chef myself and every good chef thrives in consistency. and consistency is key!
I don't recommend trying out kishi. my first time experience is enough to tell me to never go back and never recommend it to anyone I know looking to try japanese food.
I was really hoping I can be a regular customer At kishi because I live just 5 mins from it. but nevermind that. I'd much rather drive 45 mins to the city and dine at the japanese restaurant there. they have better flavour and has better consistency and not to mention, the prices is...
Read moreIf you want to listen to loud annoying RAP music then this Japanese restaurant is the best place . I asked very politely to play Japanese music which is suitable for this nice atmosphere but the guy not only ignored me but also put the volume up deliberately 🤣🤣. Decor is very Japanese, which I appreciate ( one star ) but the service is so disappointing . I asked 3 times for Miso Soup and 4 times for green tea , finally I got tea and but no soup, which I wanted to be served with our main meal . Staff were so rude and none of them behaved in the culture of this restaurant. Orders were accepted with a nonchalant air and no grace. I ordered Chicken Katsu Bento and asked not to get BBQ Sauce but what I had on my plate was nothing but a chopped German Schnitzel with a lot of BBQ Sauce . Black Sesame ice cream and Yuzu Sorbet Ice cream were nice and tasty (The second star) I also cleaned 4 tables to finally be allowed a booth. 😂😄
Just for a “ happy ending “ , the guy came to our table and arrogantly asked to pay before finishing my meal🤦🏻♂️ while other diners were not asked to pay whilst they were eating.
When I asked for an itemised invoice, He threw a piece of paper on the table, which I attached here for you to judge and for me to remember not to...
Read moreI used to come here almost every week, but I’m so sad that it’s like trying to get a tinder date to answer their phone after you drunkenly tell them over dinner that you sell pictures of your feet to weird men on the internet as a job. The phone constantly rings out, I drive up there with $20 worth of petrol which gives me approximately 1km of fuel in this current climate, to order takeaway because I couldn’t order it over the phone, only to be told in person that (randomly) they’re only doing dine in that night. I’m in my slippers and a full adidas velour tracksuit, which may fly in midland, but not in Kalamunda…also, I don’t wanna eat by myself in public. I like to try and fit the whole potato cake thing in my mouth at once, it’s a tradition but probably not acceptable in “dine in” situations. Anyways, I digress…this is the BEST sushi, but you’re more likely to get a direct line to Michael Jackson, than be able to place a phone order. Sometimes, when all the stars align, the air is at a cool, but not too cool 15 degrees and the library bell on Haynes street sounds at exactly 10 decibels under a crescent moon, you may just be able to get a delicious bento box, the best bento box I’ve ever had. I wish I could give you my money right now and get a...
