Tropicante — Restaurant in Graz

Wir haben an einem August Mi Abend während der Latin Night am Lendplatz gegen 20:00 noch was zu essen gesucht und wurden beim Tropicante fündig. Man bestellt über einen Bestellblock, kann sich so Burritos, Tacos, Bowl, Quesadilla selbst zusammenstellen zu einem guten Preis. Man gibt seinen Zettel ab, zahlt und wird aufgerufen, wenn das Essen fertig ist. Vor dem Stand gibt es diverse Sitzgelegenheiten und wir hatten Glück und haben eine ergattert.

Ich hatte einen veganen Burrito, der schon ok war, für mein Empfinden aber ehrlich gesagt total fad. Hätte mir deutlich mehr Würze/Geschmack gewünscht und mehr vom Main und nicht nur Bohnen und Reis. Von der Salsa hab ich auch kaum was rausgeschmeckt. Den Hype und die langen Schlangen vorm Stand verstehe ich nicht sooo ganz. Schade, aber kann man schon machen.

Wednesday night, during the Latin Night at Lendplatz in August 8:00 PM, we were looking for something to eat and found it at Tropicante. You order using an order slip, which allows you to customize your own burritos, tacos, bowls, or quesadillas at a good price. You hand in your slip, pay, and then get called when your food is ready. There are various seating options in front of the stand, and we were lucky enough to grab one.

I had a vegan burrito, which was okay, but to be honest, I found it pretty bland. I would have liked it to be much more flavorful and with more of the main filling, not just beans and rice. I could barely taste the salsa either. I don’t quite get the hype and the long lines in front of the stand. It's not wow, but it's...

The staff are very friendly, competent and helpful, I really want to emphasise that. The food is also delicious and the menu with its customisation options is just right in my opinion. Unfortunately, I can only give 3 stars due the value for money. You're almost guaranteed to go over €10 for a single meal and with just a couple of extras you can easily hit €15 for a portion that, at least in the case of the tacos, is somewhat on the smaller side. You definitely get a relaxed, pleasant atmosphere here and the burrito I had was quite tasty. Overall, I'm still underwhelmed, though. The chef was very inattentive and even though there were just a few people we had to wait a long time for our food after ordering (also with long breaks between our dishes being ready).
