Gaia Cuisine — Restaurant in Innsbruck

I had booked a table at your restaurant on Friday the 7th for two peoples birthday. After we had arrived we we’re seated and told that we could not order our food and drinks at the same time, which we accepted as your normal practice. After ordering the four 4-course meals we proceeded to wait for an hour for the soups to arrive. We had ordered a bottle of wine for the table to share, the staff had to be reminded multiple times to refill our glasses. Once the bottle of wine was finished we weren’t approached for more drinks, in general we felt as though our table was being ignored. After two hours we hadn’t been approached about our food at which point we inquired about the estimated wait for the second course. We were told that our food was next, but proceeded to see that at least two other tables were served in this time. After another 20 minutes we decided that we’d had enough and asked for the bill. We were told that the bread would be on the house as an apology for the long wait. After reviewing the bill we noticed that the bread was not removed from the meal nor was there any other good will gestures from the restaurant, given our almost 3 hour wait for some food. In addition to this we felt that the amount charged was unjust due to the wait and the cost of the set menu, with almost 50% of the cost charged per person for one course.

As a result we feel that the birthday meal for the two girls was ruined without even an apology, food or happy birthday for them - given the restaurant was told of their birthday in the booking request. As residents of Innsbruck we are deeply dissatisfied with the service your restaurant claims to have and the lack of respect offered towards your paying customers.

We emailed the restaurant with the complaint but didn't receive a reply after 5 days. It is a shame as it seemed to have such promise so as a result we wouldn't recommend as they clearly do not care about...

Welcoming space with very tasteful blend of classic and modern decor. Gorgeous lamps, furnishings, even the bathroom was glamourous.

Most importantly, the dishes themselves were inventive and freshly prepared with top-notch ingredients, yet retained a classic feel of comfort food -- beautiful balance of the two. Corn soup was light and delicious. The "Herbal Battle Salad" was very enjoyable, including avocado foam.

Swordfish ravioli and lamb recôte with the wonderful vegetable crepe were tasty and excellently prepared. And the dishes they were served on were very elegant and modern, so pretty to look at and eat from.

The wines were nicely curated and paired very well with everything on the menu.

The team at Gaia are friendly and hospitable and really have something to be proud of. One of the best meals on our European vacation this...

Zuerstmal muss ich mich als Freund der gehobenen Küche selber dafür kritisieren, dass ich als Einheimischer dieses Restaurant erst Jahre nach Eröffnung das erste Mal besucht habe. Umso erfreulicher ist es, dass ich trotz der späten Entdeckung mittlerweile bereits zum dritten Mal die Gelegenheit hatte, meiner Leidenschaft für die Haute Cuisine freien Lauf zu lassen und das nachzuholen, was ich anfangs leider verpasst hatte. Um es vorweg zu nehmen - Das Gaia Cuisine ist für mich eines der besten Restaurants in Innsbruck und weit drüber hinaus. Man kann dort natürlich auch à la carte bestellen, ich habe mich aber bisher immer für eines der mehrgängigen Menüs entschieden (Fleisch oder Fisch). Das mache ich in Restaurants auf diesem Niveau generell am liebsten, um meinem Gaumen den benötigten artgerechten Auslauf zu bieten - natürlich begleitet von Weinen, ausgesucht durch professionelle Beratung der Service Crew. Neben den Speisen und den Weinen, wo es für mich auch nach mehreren Besuchen absolut nichts zu kritisieren gibt, möchte ich auch das wunderschöne Ambiente und Design des Restaurants hervorheben. Was man im Gegensatz zur Einrichtung aber nicht einfach irgendwo kaufen kann und was mittlerweile offenbar leider auch unter Artenschutz steht ist qualifiziertes, motiviertes und vor allem freundliches Personal. Ist dieses nicht vorhanden kann die Küche so gut sein wie sie will, weil der Service kann entweder alles zunichte machen oder, was ich präferiere, das Erlebnis der Speisen nochmal um einen Level nach oben pushen. Deshalb ein extra grosses Lob und Dankeschön an Eva und ihre Crew, die nicht nur Extrawünsche stets mit einem Lächeln quittierend verlässlich erfüllten, nebenbei noch ganz souverän immer die perfekte Weinbegleitung vorgeschlagen hatten und, egal wie gross der Stresslevel bei vollem Haus gerade war, stets freundlich und charmant lächelnd die Visitenkarte des Hauses in Richtung Gast waren. So fühlt man sich einfach wohl. Und handelt es sich dann noch um eine Gast wie mich, der auch ganz gern mal länger verweilt wenn er sich wohlfühlt, werden von Eva's Crew anstelle des Weins auch ganz einfach mal perfekte Cocktails aus dem Ärmel geschüttelt, die dann die Zeit bis zur Sperrstunde auf eine wirklich schöne Art und Weise verstreichen und einen die Zeit vergessen lassen. Dieser richtig tolle Service komplettiert erst das qualitativ grossarttige Handwerk, das Koch Sanyo in der Küche jeden Tag vollbringt.
