Stopped by Flojos on a sleepy snowy Sunday afternoon. Had been before. We were excited to go to this local joint and wanted comfort food.* The food and atmosphere could have been the best we've ever had (it's moody, almost English pub style) but, seriously, the service was downright disrespectful and bordered upon abusive. The most basic of expectations from a restaurant denied short of pleading with their people.

I realize that service is hit-or-miss-different in Austria (sometimes lousy) and that we Americans expect more because we come from a place where servers primarily work for tips. We certainly will not return and that's unfortunate because they're literally around the corner and in the path of our daily travel.

Some sidenotes: ~ Empty otherwise relatively popular large restaurant, 15+ minutes for server to appear. We were the only diners in a large bar area. ~ We were leaving, disinterested server arrived, we ordered our food and a couple of beers. Literally sitting in the bar area with a bartender milling around, we were again standing to leave after the greater part of a half-hour (yes, we should have left before), when the server arrived with the beers from a different area. ~ Appetizer came and server was quickly away but no napkins, plates, silverware. I went to the bar to ask the young woman behind the bar for help. She asked me to wait, mixed a drink for several minutes, and then disappeared for at least 5+ minutes more before bringing several, our greasy paws in the air (onion rings are greasy in general). ~ Food came and server dashed without a word, and no silverware. I waited a few minutes and then got up and found my own napkins and forks from a big plastic bin behind a counter in a different part of the restaurant. We ate, and then struggled for 30-45 minutes to pay and leave. We asked several times. ~ Our server was especially preoccupied with a man who came in from a different restaurant (recognized his staff shirt) who sat at the bar. He ordered and then was served in the time that we waited to pay. She kept her back to us at all times. Not once were we checked upon. ~ I got up and tracked down someone and demanded that we be allowed to pay and leave. The server then took another 10 minutes to arrive with the bill. She scanned our card at the table with credit card device and said that the device wasn't working, literally as it was reading "please wait (processing)", and asked for cash instead. ~ Trust long-gone, we asked her to press the cancel button before giving cash and watched the screen to be sure that she cancelled the charge. Something red flashed and she said didn't go through but we will still check our account.

Again, we had only reasonable and basic expectations.

Suggestions for similar, yet appreciative and respectful (in our experience), nearby restaurants with good food ~...

I visited the restaurant with my friends and we all left extremely satisfied. The place is clean, nicely decorated and the staff is very friendly and helpful. They are very accommodating for english speakers and also offer a few vegetarian options. For me as a meat-eater this place was heavenly. So many great options, that I needed more time than usual to decide on just one dish. The price is a bit high, so its probably not the place to eat at often, but the quality doesn't leave you feeling disappointed. If you like the place and wanna save money you can always just come by for some drinks- the selection of alcohol is also satisfactory. The atmosphere was great, not too loud, so conversations weren't a problem. It's a great location in Innsbruck's old town near the river, so we had a fantastic walk along the water after our filling dinner. If you happen to be in Innsbruck and want to celebrate or treat yourself to a quality meal, I would definitely...

Really enjoyed a nice, decent meal at FloJos. The menu is massive with an incredible range of food that will satisfy everyone. Sometimes, when you see a menu like this you think the restaurant may be okay at everything and master of nothing, but both of our meals were truly excellent.

My wife had a very large schnitzel which she thoroughly enjoyed, and I had a filet steak and ribs. The meat came off the ribs beautifully and the filet steak was well seasoned and very lean. My meal was topped off with a jacket potato and corn on the cob, both just as nice.

FloJos is decorated in a fun way with over the top contraptions working what looks like manual air con, and a separate bar area. The service was friendly and you could have a laugh with the staff. A great find. Look forward to visiting there...

The place itself looks authentic and feels cozy. I really liked the atmosphere, but unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the food and drinks. I decided to try the schnitzel from FloJo’s Specials, but it was disappointing. My husband’s wedges were okay, but the wings were far from good 🤷‍♀️. The worst, however, was the sangria—it wasn’t even close to a proper red wine sangria. Honestly, it was apparent from the first glance to the colour (visible on photos), even before tasting. After the first sip, we mentioned it to the waiter, and he immediately offered to replace it with something else. Despite these disappointing experiences, the waiter was the highlight of our visit—so kind and helpful throughout.

After walking about the city we finally found a great place to eat. The menu is in english which peaked our interest, and then the reasonable prices and great selection of food, wine, and beer had us sold. The staff also speak perfect english and were as accommodating as can be, and were going about their job with a smile. Attached is my meal. 200g steak with garlic butter, rack of pork ribs, jacket potato, and cob corn. Delicious. Be sure to give FloJos a try when in innsbruck. Dave.
