Inexpensive attraction with discounts offering key Austrian political history. You cannot take photos inside, and will need to pay extra to see the full experience. About an hour is suggested either way. Check closure dates before you go as restoration periods are common. A nicely intact palace. Some stunning rooms such as the church with original sculpture as well as original bedroom furniture. The ball room is absolutely stunning. If you are interested in more than just the main family, namely, Maria Theresa and Francis I; the Habsburgs and the politics of those times you will be disappointed - Most all of the displays such as paintings and info are on the 18th century politics. Architectural info and what happened long after Maria Theresa is slim.

Visiting the Imperial Palace was a captivating journey through history. The grandeur of the palace and the impressive paintings on display transported me back to a bygone era. The artwork, depicting historical events and the lives of royalty, was both exquisite and enlightening. Walking through the opulent halls, I gained a profound insight into the lifestyles of the imperial families. What truly stood out was the opportunity to get a firsthand view of those remarkable eras, appreciating the artistry and attention to detail that defined each period. A visit to the Imperial Palace is a must for anyone eager to delve into Austria's rich heritage. Ps : There is a restriction on taking photo/video.

I visited using the Innsbruck card. The imperial apartments alone are worth the visit. Although smaller than the Schonbrunn Palace, the Hofburg is much quieter and you can take your time examining each room and the displays there in relative peace and quiet. The staff in the apartments are proactive and helpful in providing directions, and explaining the mirrors in the Giant's Hall. As with the Schonbrunn Palace, photos are not allowed in the apartments, and the staff also see to that. These mirrors are great for seeing the ceiling murals really clearly without having to strain your neck to look upwards. A strong recommendation if you have the Innsbruck card and 1-2 hours to spare.

I have had expectation but i was dissapointed. First renovations tools was everywere ( outside)but it was open , still. Second, i was ask if i whant to pay for the first floor or second floor!!! First floor was 9 euro( i quess) and bouth 15 euro! Moneymaking was most important think for management than history! It s just a bussines. At first floor it s nothing to see very few and only holograms and pictures and video at projector( i have internet and i m not paying for this at museum!!!). At second floor(witch was 15 eur) was really the museum! So it a must to pay entire price to see something. Just sad!!!!

The Hofburg had more to see than I expected, and we spent 1-1.25 hours in just the apartments, but could easily spend more if wanting to thoroughly read all information. It is more of a museum than staged apartments, though does have a few rooms like the throne room, dining room, and sitting room in a staged way. Signs throughout are very informative and in German, English, and Italian, and an audio guide is also available. There is a lift, and toilets looked to be on each floor. No photos are allowed inside, and the guards took great pains to remind everyone of this.

Pretty interesting if you want to learn about the Tyrol regency however they had an extra exhibit and I was asked if I wanted to pay an extra 3 Euro to see Guernica. I was surprised that Guernica is on display in Innsbruck but even more surprised when I walked into the exhibit and only found a projected image of Guernica along with another artist's tribute to Guernica opposite the projection. A bit misleading to say the least
