Definitely not recommend. No sushi, no raw salmon, nothing like the pictures on Google review. They said they don’t offer sushi anymore. Overpriced. The portion is so small, the “mini don” is really mini. Tonkatsu didn’t come with rice and it was €14,20. We ordered Tori karaage but no sauce, mayo cost €1.
Overall the food was okay, but the experience was not so good.
Update** No English menu and we can’t tell that there is no sushi anymore from the first floor’s menu. Sorry for not speaking German. And if you opened your Google maps “menu” section, there is a “menu highlight” and there is sushi on it. We compared the price with other restaurant we ate at Germany. Of course Taiwan’s 滷肉飯 is a lot cheaper… but how would it be possible that we use Taiwan’s standard??? We were at Europe, the standard was different for sure. It’s not our first time at Europe and my friends with me it’s even live at Germany. We judged its overprice by our experience. And I even didn’t mention 滷肉飯 in the comments. I feel uncomfortable by the reply. We knew that Mayo costed money at McDonalds. But we thought that Japanese fried chicken should come with lemon or mayo sauce etc. The problem was how it flavored.
Thanks for replying me and that’s enough. Wish...
Read moreThis place only takes cash. We waited over 25 minutes for our food, which ended up being terrible in terms of taste and quality.
The vegan yaki udon had nothing other than raw beansprouts, cabbage, onions and carrots. It was so bland we had to ask for additional soy sauce to season. For 13,90€ one would expect more vegetables such as mushrooms, broccoli etc. The tiny portion of beef stir fry was 21,90€ and was basically a replica of the vegan yaki udon with a few extra slices of beef, the fact that it did not even come with rice for that price was pretty embarrassing. It was bland as well. Tap water was labelled as tirolean water and costed us 1,50€ each. There was no proper receipt upon payment, but a dodgy looking order paper with handwritten costs of the items which was then taken away from us after payment.
The interior of the restaurant looks great, but the food quality is very poor. It is clearly a tourist trap. Disappointing. Even a street asian noodle shop would have better tasting and quality food for the...
Read more1st time at Umaya and I had an amazing experience. CASH ONLY
Drinks I ordered the Asahi Beer (Japanese Beer) and after had the Shochu hot sake (WOW) and grapefruit soju!! I recommend all three of them.
Food I was not too hungry but I wanted to try their small plates. I had their edamame, Tori Karaage (fried chicken bites) and Yaki Gyoza. The chicken was so good I ended up ordering it again. Umaya offers larger plates to eat which they recommended Tonkatsu (chicken), Sanbei Chicken and the Karikari Komo (duck)
The service was fantastic. After speaking to my server I found out that she and the other male staff member are professional ballet dancers here in Innsbruck. Which made sense why there were brochures of an upcoming dance festival sitting on a table when you arrive.
Special shoutout to the staff and specifically Sayumi and Mitchi for an incredible experience.
If you are looking for a nice place to have small bites and a drink or two with a mature crowd this is the...
