A wonderful, cosy eatery run by a lovely hostess, Hedi, whose ever-cheerful smile somehow doesn’t fade even as she rushes around serving everyone.
We’d been craving a proper hot breakfast — honestly, we were getting tired of cold sandwiches on this trip — and this place was exactly what we needed. Freshly made omelettes and soft breakfast rolls!!
At one point, we asked for an extra bun and were told it would take five minutes. I wondered why… until we realised she was baking it fresh! I don’t think I’ve ever had bakery items that fresh before — that simple joy of tearing into a steaming, just-baked bun is something I’ll always remember.
The café has a few tables, and Hedi makes sure everyone gets their food hot and fresh, as quickly as possible. We saw the place fill up quickly, even larger groups waiting for a table, and she always let them know with that same sweet smile that it might take a little time — but the food would be served hot!! I truly appreciate that kind of honesty and warmth.
We loved our breakfast here, and even lingered over our cappuccino afterward. Homely, heartwarming places like this are rare these days — and this one truly...

Where I am from, we have something called 'chicken fried steak' which is a thicker, lower quality version of schnitzel and so I was savouring the taste as it was so simple but good and it didn't need to overcompensate with size like chicken fried steaks usually do in the States 😅. The owner was pleasant to interact with and was very attentive and even brought over some more sides (potatoes). Would love to return here next time I am in this part...
Read moreA hidden gem. One of its kind where the locals come! I am a local in Salzburg and for us it’s difficult to find good homemade food for a price that we as locals can pay. Most restaurants in Salzburg are tourist driven, and the food is not even as good, for a price that most locals refuse to pay for the classics. It’s a dying breed, these places. You will need to have some time here, as it’s made fresh and hot for you, but it’s a place to meet new people, and be a part of what Austria was about. Amazing coffee too!! Hedi’s and its guests is worth a trip. Breakfast all day, but daily specials and amazing quality. Simple, not fancy, come as you are and enjoy some good food and...
