First off. About a decade ago I came regularly. I've been here hundreds of times...a decade ago.
I decided to come here for the view and the good food with my partner and it was incredibly disappointing. She ordered the sesame chicken menu with Jasmin Ice Tee, which arrived promptly, albeit with a fly in each one. Which is off-putting.
I ordered a Kamo Ramen which is crispy duck with ramen. When the server arrived with my partner's dish the server tried to give me some chicken dish I did not order, after 3 prompts he understood that I didn't order this dish and left. After another 15min my dish "Kamo Ramen" arrived. It was duck...but not ramen. This was my favourite dish here as a teen and I know it perfectly well. This was some Chinese style vegetable noodles with duck, and not ramen. I decided not to complain and just eat it, because at this point I was too hungry to complain and I had already waited 40min. To boot the duck was dry and the noodles were weirdly unsatisfying with a portion that was smaller than most to go Asian places. And it cost 15.50€, which is insane, considering how bad and little it was. (I could get a larger and tastier portion for 6€.)
In conclusion the beautiful view did not make up for the bungled service and subpar food. I left deeply disappointed with the resolution that I will never come here again and I will tell everybody I know not to go to this family run...
Read morehorrible experience. We went there for the view. The upper floor and the terrace was closed inspite it was a perfectly sunny day. So we settled down in the only available table next to the window which later came to our observation deserved an overdue cleaning. Now after we settled and cleaned our own table we ordered some soup and maki. My soup arrived almost recently but it was way too oversalted. I had a saltburn in my tongue, even the beer would not help. The maki came after a delay of approx half an hour despite reminding the waiters. After we were done, we asked for the bills, which also never came. While waiting for the bill, we decided to go for a Mochi. After several trials to catch the waiters attention I managed to place the order and asked it to be delivered with the bill. But again there was no bill. I went up to the bar to settle down the bill hoping it to be faster but then again the frustrating point was that they wanted to have us seated till we got "served". We were so relieved to leave the place and promised not to return. The quality of the food was miserable, the service poor and you definitely dont get your money's worth. Combined with overcrowded tourist guests its a nightmare for people looking for a relaxing meal with a nice view...
Read moreThe only star goes to the beautiful view of this restaurant. This review only applies to this specific restaurant (not Akakiko in general). Before I placed an order I asked the waiter whether or not the "Mandu noodles" contain milk as it was labeled vegetarian. The waiter told me that he doesn't know without making an effort to ask anyone in the kitchen. I went for it nonetheless since I've already eaten the same dish in other Akakiko restaurants and never noticed the "vegetarian label". The dish arrived within minutes and the Mandu were okay, however, the "fried" noodles were not warm and they were swimming in a sauce and absolutely tasteless. I told the waiter that the noodles are far from fried, apart from the fact that they were served lukewarm at best. He just took the plate, no apologies, nothing. So, do yourself a favor and just have a drink on the terrace but skip the food. I can recommend the Akakiko in the first district though - the quality of food is much better and the staff is also...
