We went there today to have a drink and then have a meal (2 people). We sat outside but no one came to take our orders after 20mins. After going inside and sitting at a table the waiter , makes us move to this small table to sit at. He comments that he saw us sit outside. So apparently he didn't even bother to take our order (it wasn't busy some staff were even polishing cutlery). Of Course we didn't order food as why would you order food from a place that didn't even bother to take your order. So we ordered some wine. After asking about their wine of the month it seems no one knew about it and it doesn't exist anymore (the menu clearly states: our staff will be happy to explain). So we ordered two glasses of other wine (hey no problem right) well apparently it took another 15 mins for them to pour two glasses of wine and serve it to us. Now remember that table we sat at inside that was "too big for two people" well they happily served two other people at...
Read moreGreat spot! We went there during lunch time. We were so hungry since we were walking for awhile and couldn't find any restaurants. Luckily we found this place.
We were immediately seated even though the place seemed full. Service was quite efficient since it didn't take long to get our plates.
We had the Beef Goulash à la Fiaker, the Tafelspitz, the Sacher cake, the Mozart cake and coffee.
Both main dishes were excellent. I love the addition of the egg in the goulash. The yolk made the texture of the meat a lot more satisfying.
It was my first time trying the famous Sacher cake. It was good, but a little bit dry. The Mozart Cake was excellent and far better.
You can see from the picture that the decoration is quite interesting, as countless lightbulbs hang from the ceiling.
You won't be disappointed...

The main attraction being the cozy sofas and armchairs, as well as the traditional very large windows. The atmosphere is quite laid back, the place is clean and the staff is usually friendly. It can get packed at times though. The menu too is an updated selection of classic Viennese fare sprinkled with international comfort food and snacks. From bagels, quiche to goulash, strudel and daily specials there's an ample variety to choose from. But be aware that the "burg" in the name doesn't stand for burger, but for the Burg (the castle) just across the Ringstrasse (street). In general, the food is average though. The coffee, like cappuccino is good. They do also...
