Wonderful, but be wary as it seems that for many people it completely undermines their ability to read. I walked in and found my fellow humans completely unable to comprehend even the most simple of instructions "do not touch the butterflies." Was plastered to near every wall in the building yet upon entering I watched a kid snatch one out of the air, parents smiling and taking pictures proudly, whilst another grown adult attempted to stroke the underdeveloped wings of one recently out of its cocoon. I worry that the dangers of this place outweigh its benefits for some. How on earth can you then go on to exist in the world now their ability to read has been revoked.
I think actual lovers of butterflies might find it hard not to become more wrapped up in stopping visitors interfering with the creatures, rather than actually making the most of being in the space, and I feel to an extent that this place is more catered to those who find butterflies pretty, knee deep fascinating, but in reality not particularly important; things which somehow benefit from a good solid prod by a curious yet unsympathetic human thumb.
Would be nice to see a staff member wandering about politely enforcing the rules and not so many people manipulating animals for...
Read moreI recently visited the Butterfly House in Vienna and overall had a lovely experience. The place is very beautiful, with a nice variety of butterflies fluttering around. However, it did seem like one particular type of butterfly was dominating the space, which was a little underwhelming considering the expectations for more diversity.
The greenery inside is lush and well-maintained, and the small waterfalls throughout really add to the atmosphere, mimicking a real-life tropical ecosystem beautifully. It’s a very charming and peaceful setting — at least it would be if it wasn’t so crowded. The space itself feels a bit too small for the large number of visitors, which made it harder to fully enjoy the experience.
The entrance fee is €10, which is reasonable given the uniqueness of the place. It’s also situated in a lovely area surrounded by nice cafés, making it a great spot to plan a day around.
I would recommend expanding the space a bit and introducing more types of butterflies to enhance the experience even further. Overall, I’m giving it four stars — definitely worth a visit if you’re in Vienna, but be prepared for...
Read morePLEASE MAKE A RULE FOR ALLOWING MAXIMUM 15 PEOPLE INSIDE!!! The place is in itself is beautiful and charming. BUT there are too many people! There was a girl inside who stepped on a butterfly and sadly killed it, because she wanted to go around a group of people but because of the crowd she needed to squeeze herself between everybody and did not notice the butterfly on the ground. It was heartbreaking to watch. This amount of people (and i am talking about 40-60 people in a narrow passage) is very dangerous for the butterflies and the whole idea of this place is going to be destroyed. I enjoyed it because it is very unique and beautiful , but i hope that the owner of this place see this, and immediatly make some moves of the too crowded situation!
Edit: After I saw the other reviews, and saw the owner’s replies on those I changed my 3 star rating to a 1 . You guys are pathetic🤣I suggest you to not go near of this selfish, profit oriented place!! I am really sad that you guys are allowed to work with...
