Cool space, food and coffee are ok, awful service. When I arrived at the place, it took some time for someone to come and ask what I’d like to order. My cake and latte were quickly delivered, but the attendant did it like I just spat on her face. She basically tossed the plates on the table in a rude way and didn’t even answer my “Vielen Dank”. At first, I thought that maybe she was too busy and didn’t mean to be rude. However, she kept repeatedly ignoring even when we’d make direct eye contact. I spent a lot of time waiting for my dirty plate to be collected and to pay and none of the attendants bothered to help me. There’s no way they didn’t notice their presence was needed, as they’ve all made eye contact with me and visibly saw the state of my table. They did have time to chit chat with each other and serve the locals, though. Since eye contact didn’t work, I put my belongings in my backpack and my wallet on the table. After quite some time, the attendant came and silently put the bill on my table. She asked if I’d like to pay with money or card and, when I said “Bargeld” and put a 10€ note on the table, made a face. I asked if she didn’t have change and she loudly answered “what?” and that she could get it on the bar. In the end, she did gave me the change, but ignored my goodbye. On the other hand, there was another attendant that was polite to me and seemed friendly, but he kept talking to his friends/colleagues most of the time. I don’t know if this Café is just extremely disorganized or if some of the attendants have a problem with people who don’t look “cool” and “hipster” – or, even worse, are visibly foreigners. I just know that I’ll...
Read moreWhat a discrimination to Asian. I visited with friends last night around midnight. We were the only Asians in the bar at the time. we ordered beers. When we wanted to order second round, I looked at the employee (a thin white guy) to order. When we made eye contact, I thought maybe he couldn't see us.
I turned around my body, so he could easily recognize me, and the second we made eye contact, he ignored me. Then he went to another customer's table to take their order.
I kept looking at him. When we made eye contact for the third time, I raised my hand. Surprisingly, he ignored me again and went to another customer's table.
After that he deliberately ignored our table to look. I was really angry. I stood up and came him. Before I could even say a word, he spoke to me first. “Oh, sorry, I didn’t see it.” It was so clear. The sentence he said says everything.
We were sitting across the bar and I don't believe that he didn't see us. I come to Camus often, and always introduce and bring friends. But I don't think I'll ever visit again. It was clearly...
Read moreWe stopped at Cafe Camus and really enjoyed the food – everything was very tasty. We tried the Italian burger, schnitzel, and several desserts. The desserts were a real highlight – one of the best I’ve had in Vienna, and for only €8, it felt like a great deal.
Prices overall are quite reasonable, and the atmosphere is nice for a casual meal.
On the downside, the service could be better. One of the waiters accidentally dropped a saucer of sauce, spilled some drops on us, and didn’t apologize. Even worse, the spilled sauce stayed on the street for more than half an hour while people kept stepping in it. Also, one of the glasses we were given was cracked.
Overall: delicious food and good value for money, but service and attention to detail could...
