Trattoria La Scala Pizzeria — Restaurant in Vienna

Reserved a table for two on my birthday. I was very excited since the place looked nice and the reviews were good too.

Once we arrived, we were led to our table which wasn’t prepared well. I immediately noticed that there were other tables with a nicer set up (with the white towels and etc.) But our table and some others had two random water glasses, fork, knife, and a cheap red tissue in the middle.

When it came to being served, we got a waiter who just didn’t care about us. He looked confused and not really happy.

While we were waiting for food, I had some time to watch over the room. I noticed that our table was the only one that got the mean server. All others were being served by a very nice waiter with glasses. It made me upset to see how nice he made the restaurant experience for others, while we just had a waiter that basically just rushed and put food on our table and left. (Btw it was a monday and the restaurant wasn’t busy much, so it is not like they had anywhere to run)

What we did like was the food! It was very delicious and honestly was ready pretty fast, so that was great :)

But overall, the experience was ruined by the waiter. After we were done with our first order of food, he just grabbed our dishes and basically carelessly put down the new set of fork and knife (he even left the dirty tissue and didn’t give us a new one🤦‍♀️)

Lastly, when we finished our food, our waiter took our dishes and just left us for a while (didn’t come to ask about the dessert options or if we wanted to pay…) In the end the waiter with glasses came to us and nicely asked if we liked the food and did we want a dessert. We asked to pay and with card, but there was an option to leave a tip and the waiter looked upset that we didn’t leave any…(although we did plan to leave a tip initially, but we decided that the staff did not deserve it).

So overall the food was amazing. The staff needs better training. Would never consider going to this restaurant again, especially for...

WOULD BE 0 STARS IF I COULD! If this was only for food then the review would probably be hire, but honestly the staff RUINED an otherwise decent night. Where to start. First of all I am used to pushy staff trying to get you to buy but this was a new level. One member of staff came over and handed us a menu for New Years Eve. Not something we could purchase, not something we needed, but came over and said ‘put that in there put that in there’. Unnecessary and more importantly rude! We got our food and I was given the wrong item. Perfectly decent in itself but not what I wanted or ordered. Didn’t want to wait for something new so ate the wrong meal anyway. The staff hovered a lot. Like touching the wine bottle and napkin on our table and lingering. We couldn’t really relax or talk at all whilst they were there. Again, I know it was to make us buy more but ask the question and leave, don’t hover like an extra guest at the table. Then came the bill. There was something added for a cover charge. Fine, I get that places automatically add to the bill, and wasn’t all that much to be fair. But when the guy came to take the payment, he asked if we wanted to tip then automatically added a 10% tip without us agreeing. When we questioned the add on he said this was a tax for having a table, made it seem like something everywhere adds, which we had never had before when eating out. We had this removed and left, because frankly, with staff like that, I’m surprised anyone returns to this restaurant. Shame they can’t learn some manners...

I would give this place zero stars if it was possible. I waited for a table when almost every table was empty - strike one. The waiter then seated the party that came in 5 minutes after me immediately.

From there, it got worse. My drink was watered down, almost no vodka. My soup came out cold - strike two.

Two other parties walked in and were seated. After all three parties were finished with their full meals and paid, I asked the waiter about my meal. He yelled over something to the others. That made me think he never put in my order. - Strike three. Between my soup and entree which was a pizza, I waited almost 40 minutes. I asked him to cancel the rest of my order.

I made the comment to him about this being horrible service and the soup and drink I had were close to terrible. The server tried to give me a litany of excuses instead of just admitting or apologizing. After I paid and stated to walk out another guy came and told me it would just be another few minutes when he saw I was waiting for well over half an hour.

There are plenty of better places within a two minute walk of this place. I wouldn't recommend anyone eating here or even thinking about getting a...
