Last Saturday we went to Cantinetta Antinori to celebrate an anniversary. Our choice was not difficult - we were there many years ago still as a fresh couple and had a great time. Lately we did not visit it because of the pandemic situation. Unfortunately, this time we had a bad experience and will avoid going there in the future. The interior is very nice (fresh and stylish), and the entire atmosphere is noble. We had Beef carpaccio with black truffles as well as Tagliatelle also with truffles. The carpaccio was good looking and tasty, while the pasta needed a lot of salt and not particularly good. Both dishes were strongly aromatized with truffle oil which does not give one the possibility to sense the real truffle aroma and taste because of the artificially strong smell from the oil. That makes meals look a bit cheap, but the overall experience is OK-ish. What was really not fine that night was the service. In the menu all truffle meals can be served with 2g or 3g of sliced truffles. Since we did not specify when ordering, we asked about the truffles quantity when served. The waiter clearly said that we got the meal with 2g. In fact, I doubt anyone could recognize the difference between 2 and 3 grams. At the end we were billed with 3g and an additional bottle of water we did not consume. Both me and my wife have some supervising experience in gastro and recognized well-known patterns in the way waiters handled the situation when we complained. Of course, we were told by the serving waiter that he had told us not 2g but 3g and so on. We did not want something like this to spoil our small celebration but would like to summarize the key points from our experience. We did not expect such bistro-like tricks in a classy-pretending place. This is not the way a waiter can make some extra money (even though it is quite common). And if you guys still decide to give it a try – watch out your bill it might be up to 20-30% higher...
Read moreI rarely write reviews, but after my experience at Cantinetta Antinori in Vienna, I felt it was absolutely necessary.
My husband and I had just finished our honeymoon in Tuscany, where we enjoyed a beautiful experience with Antinori. During a weekend getaway to Vienna, I thought it would be special to bring him to Cantinetta Antinori to relive those wonderful memories.
Our reservation was made on July 13 through the Rosewood hotel concierge for August 25. However, when we arrived at the restaurant, we were told that there was no booking under our name. What followed was shockingly unprofessional. The staff was not only dismissive but outright rude. They showed no interest in helping us resolve the situation and made us feel as though we were an inconvenience. Despite having confirmation from the concierge that everything was in order, the staff refused to acknowledge the issue or even make an effort to accommodate us. Their behavior wasn't just indifferent; it was condescending and disrespectful.
Even when the concierge intervened, the staff's attitude did not improve—they were equally rude to the concierge, which was particularly appalling given the hotel's efforts in organizing our dining arrangements. The level of disdain and lack of customer care we encountered was astonishing, especially from a restaurant associated with such a prestigious name.
It's deeply disappointing to see a brand like Cantinetta Antinori allow such unprofessional behavior. Unfortunately, this experience has left us with a very negative impression, and we have no...
Read moreDelicious food, great wine choice. The first time it was a bit rushed. On Google they said they close at 11pm, in reality their kitchen closes at 10pm. As I just finished a concert at St. Stephen, I had to rush order and order everything at once. The server also changed 3 times as they were technically closing. The second time was better as it was lunch and had time to enjoy the full menu.
The capaccio with truffles was great~ generous amounts of truffles over and I had some with every bite. The Viennes capaccio of sliced cooked veal with Tuna paste was delicious as well. If you are not a big fan of mayo, I would not recommend. The pastas were cooked perfectly with al dente noodles and the sauce coated everything well. Make sure to ask for the chillies (they are in olive oil form and tastes amazing!) Flavours were balanced and full. The panseared seabass had super crispy skin and was salted just enough. The grilled vegetables really brought out the sweetness of each one. The panna cotta had velvety texture and just the right amount of sweetness. Pairs great with the fresh mint and the tartness of the fruits. The chocolate lava cake was decadent and not too heavy. The oozing center was so delicious to dip...
