My visit to Cha No Ma 茶の間 | Teehaus was an exceptionally pleasant experience that captured the essence of a traditional Japanese teahouse. The intimate and cozy ambiance of this small venue is perfectly complemented by a selection of Japanese products that enhance its authentic feel.
We indulged in a regular matcha and a matcha latte, both of which were expertly prepared and rich in flavor. The highlight, however, were the homemade mochis—these treats were evidently crafted with care and delivered a delightful taste that truly set them apart from store-bought varieties.
The staff at Cha No Ma were incredibly welcoming and knowledgeable, adding a personal touch to our visit and making us feel right at home. Their recommendations were spot-on, including the high-quality Japanese loose-leaf tea I purchased. This tea continues to be a favorite of mine, reminding me of my visit with each cup.
Despite its small size, Cha No Ma 茶の間 | Teehaus packs a big punch with its warm atmosphere, delicious offerings, and excellent service. It’s a must-visit for anyone looking to enjoy genuine Japanese tea and snacks in a setting that transports you...

A very small shop located on a side street. Surrounded by a few Japanese/Asian shops, and all staffs speaks Japanese. Which should be a good sign — but apparently NOT.
Queue for 15min on a weekend afternoon. The cashier did not greet or even smile during the whole interaction — which is not what you expected from a ‘Japanese standard service’.
Particularly asked for “no syrup or added sugar please”. But the iced matcha latte ended up being still very sweet. Asked them to know that the soya milk base itself if vanilla flavour and already sweetened. And they have NO REGULAR MILK, and if you want no added sugar oat milk: pay extra!
Beside this, the matcha itself was so weak, I can barely taste it.
As a matcha lover, this is the unfortunately one of the worse matcha experience I’ve ever had. Don’t understand why so many positive reviews and such long queue.
Want stronger matcha? Even Starbucks does better...
Read morewas craving matcha on my europe trip and decided to check out cha no ma due to the reviews raving about the high quality matcha. they are most known for their drinks, but i noticed they sold ice cream on its own too.
i got a scoop of matcha ice cream (2.80) and a scoopy of black sesame ice cream (2.50) the scoops were average size, maybe a bit on the smaller size. service was friendly and the store is cute with matcha accessories for sale.
the black sesame ice cream was really good -- it had that nutty flavor and came with sesame seeds sprinkled on top. maybe a bit too sweet, but still good.
the matcha ice cream was disappointing though. maybe the matcha gelato (that was sold out) was the vibrant green ice cream that is in the other pictures for matcha floats, but my matcha ice cream was more milky and tasted more like green tea than matcha (if you can tell the difference like me). overall, the flavor was weaker than...
