Awful service — rude, dismissive, and presetting a 10% tip without asking.
Dropped by this cafe with my mother. There were a few empty seats outside and it was nearly vacant inside, yet the staff initially claimed there were “no tables.” Only after I questioned it did he reluctantly lead us indoors, which already made us wonder if we were being brushed off simply for being tourists.
My mother ordered an unfiltered apple juice but was served a completely clear one. I even second-guessed myself and let it go, but what annoyed me most was how the server didn’t bat an eye and insisted it was “unfiltered,” showing zero concern.
About 15 minutes after our food arrived, a server came by—not to check how everything was, but to immediately see if he could clear our plates. Meanwhile, locals at nearby tables who’d finished long before us still had theirs left untouched, reinforcing the feeling that we might have been treated differently.
When we requested the bill, the staff showed us the card machine already preset with a 10% tip, claiming it was a “service charge”—giving the impression that tipping was mandatory and at a fixed rate. We paid, mainly to avoid a scene. During payment, the staff seemed oddly eager to avoid any contact, sharply instructing us to insert and remove the card ourselves.
Seconds later, he burst into laughter and high-fived a colleague right in front of us—perhaps thrilled to have scored that undeserved €1.66 from clueless tourists.
I sincerely hope our generosity funds a basic lesson in hospitality. Wouldn’t recommend this...
Read moreDiscrimination that makes me uncomfortable.
We came here to drink coffee and have lunch. After we came in, a waiter greeted us. After we sat down, no one asked us to come. We waited for a long time until we stood up again to get the menu. When ordering, we tried to talk to several waiters many times, but the responses we got were either polite nods and then left, or they said to us "just a second" and then went to serve other guests who had just entered the cafe. We were like this for at least 15 minutes when several waiters passed by us many times. Finally, a waiter came to us. Although he kept a polite smile, when we opened our order, he turned around and served a lady at the next table and another man next to him. After we finished eating, they quickly took away our empty plates. At this time, I told him that we could pay the bill. He told us to wait a moment and then went to serve other people, making us wait for at least 20 minutes. Then he kept asking for tips, telling us that he wanted a 10% tip.
This kind of ignoring makes people very uncomfortable, but they seem to be polite and decent. This is a kind of invisible discrimination. I understand that the store might be busy, but that's no excuse to ignore it, especially when we were there before others. I think this store is racist towards people of color, or...
Read moreUnpleasant experience because of the rude attitude of the stuff. We took a table with my family and ordered coffee, drinks and desserts, for some mysterious reason when one of us wanted to charge her phone the barista and the waitress refused her two times. The first time the barista said "I don't have time for this" in a really annoyed and humiliating manner. Having an experience working as a barista in a big restaurant I must confirm that to put a phone to charge takes around one second of your time, but apparently the stuff in this place is so unprofessional that for them it's a really big deal and takes a lot of time. Some time later they finally were so extremely kind to take the phone to charge. But in general the attitude of the waiters is really unapealling. However the first impression is the strongest so please control your passive aggression because it's not your visitor's fault that you have whatever issues you...
