I visited two times and the first time was absolutely amazing. the second time was rather mediocre, therefore I can't give five stars. 1st time: I had a starter, the Adobo a dessert and it was really good. The lola drink was not really to my taste but I am very picky about my alcohol. 2nd time: my food was really good but we all had lemonades and all had lice in them from the leaves they put in. My friend almost had a panic attack because she drank it. We told the waitress but she didn't really react and just said, "oh..OK". we tried to fish them out ourselves and ordered alcohol instead for thr sevond round. Another partymember had a severe allergy against soy and on top of that, can't eat any meat. There was no real option on the menu and he ordered the bowl without the soy sauce but asked if there was another sauce avalable. The waitress just told him, that the food would taste bland because they did not have another sauce. Luckily another waiter came and told us, it won't be a problem and he would get a sauce. mhhh. Tbh. I don't think this experience was nice for him and the members of my group. While I would definitely come again to try out more of the food, I would have to...
Read moreGiven that there aren't that many Filipino alternatives in Vienna, I really appreciate that Lolo und Lola are giving Austrians a peak into the world of Filipino cuisine. I admit that before trying their dishes, I had expected a traditional Filipino dining experience (the name Lolo und Lola means Grandfather and Grandmother, afterall). This expectation was further encouraged by the names of the dishes: we ordered Kilawin, Sisig and Sinigang. We quickly learned, however, that the goal of Lolo und Lola is not authentic Filipino, but rather "fusion" Filipino that is accessible to the European palate. Hence, the milder Sisig flavor, and the use of ingredients that are typical in this part of the world, such as celery and bell peppers, but are unusual for dishes like Sinigang and Sisig, respectively. I enjoyed the Kilawin best and would have appreciated a bigger portion. In the end, I would probably recommend Lolo und Lola to those who are curious but not so adventurous. For a Filipino like me craving for a taste of home, Lolo und Lola unfortunately came out lacking. Staff was really...
Read moreThe service Team was wonderful very friendly and attentive. About the food we had as starter the siomai veggie - it was quite salty for my taste but Siopao was really good , the buns were super soft and the kids loved it a lot!
Main course we had Sinigang with prawns- which was totally my taste but to much of okra (not a big fan!) but super yummy, very recommendable!
Pancit with Veggies was a disappointment for me, even I know its a fusion- I didn’t expect what we received.
Kaldereta- was good very on point! The vegetables were a overcooked but all in all yummy.
Crispy Adobo , honestly I didn’t know what to expect but my surprise it was really good , I just didn’t like the sauce on the side. Maybe a spicy vinegar would have made it perfect.
Sizzling Sisig - my husband had it he said it was average specially the dish was not that big.
Dessert: 100% recommendable TAHO & BILO BILO it was on point not to sweet !
If I would sum it up it was a great experience, a lot of suprises, the service was wonderful . But...
