Had a lovely dinner at Salzamt with our group of five ladies. The restaurant has a lively vibe (only complaint: inside it can get loud sometimes, so loud, it was difficult to understand our waiter). The menu is written by hand, which is a nice touch, but made it hard to read. Luckily our lovely waitress took the time to explain the menu to us.

I ordered some oysters with a glass of sparkling wine to start the meal in style. As a main course I had the seabass with mussels and a carafe of Sauvignon blanc. We all loved our food, which was very tasty. As a dessert we shared some crème brûlée, chocolat mousse and topfensmarren (a variant on the popular dessert kaiserschmarren). I ended the meal with a glass of Gölles Alter Apfel Edelbrand. Very nice!

We had a great time in this restaurant....

My wife and I went here based on the reviews and it was within a comfortable walking distance from our hotel. It became quite busy and the ambience was good. Why the waitstaff have to translate for everybody is beyond me...surely German & English menus would work quite well. The handwritten, faint menu photocopies are ridiculous. Thank God the food was good because the waitstaff were all over the place. No bar person on duty so the young girl who did attend to the drinks did so in between her own beers & her texting! There was very little process, order or procedure but the kitchen delivered and delivered well. Worth going if you’re seeking a restaurant with good Austrian food...

Difficult to find a place at Christmas and every day you have to call for the following evening. Nice and clean location, in a raised point near the Ruprecth church and the Shakespeare & Company bookshop in Vienna. Every day the menu changes and is written by hand. The courses are right.Tasted the pheasant, hunting meat, with side and cabbage and the deer, marinated and spiced correctly and very soft, a really nice business card for a restaurant and a rare Viennese menu variant, not easily found. Duck carpaccio as a sublime starter, very soft and tasty. Fair prices and quick, friendly service. Highly recommended.

Loved this place!! The staff was amazing and very helpful with the menu (there's no English menu) We came after hearing of the great schnitzel and it was better than expected - the veal was tender and the crumb was light and crunchy. It doesn't come with sauce but I squeezed lots of lemon and cracked pepper and that was enough. The potato and salad that came with it was also very good!! The desserts are a must try!! The strudel is popular but my favourite was the chocolate cake (and I don't normally like choc cake). My friends raved about the mascarpone too. Definitely a great place to visit but you must reserve.
