After finishing our meal, we waited for an extended period without any staff attending to our request for the bill. We approached the bar twice but were ignored each time. As we were in a hurry to leave, we asked a male staff member at the bar if we could settle our bill. His response was, "Do I look like someone who handles bills?" indicating he did not have the means to process our payment. Frustrated, we returned to our table. Eventually, a female staff member came to process our payment. However, as soon as she finished, she hurried away without giving us our receipt. When I called after her, asking for the receipt, she did not acknowledge me and continued walking towards the bar. Concerned that she had not heard me due to the noise in the restaurant, I followed her and politely repeated my request, saying, "May I have my receipt?" To my astonishment, she turned and snapped at me, saying, "I already heard you. What is your problem?" I am deeply shocked by this level of service. I have traveled to many cities around the world and have never encountered such behavior. It is disheartening to experience such rudeness in a country that prides itself on being a developed nation. This level of service is not even comparable to that of some third-world countries. It is important to remember that tourists are essential to your economy. Without tourism, there would be fewer jobs, and the perceived superiority some staff members exhibit is unfounded. Your prosperity is built on the legacy of your ancestors, not on your personal achievements. Compared to the warmth and hospitality shown to tourists in France, the UK, and Italy, Austria's attitude is quite disappointing. Culturally, Austria does not match Italy or the UK's richness, and it cannot rival France's glamour and influence on the world. Yet, the arrogance displayed is unwarranted.

A nice place to rest before or after a visit to Belvedere (highly recommended, especially for art friends) Alternatively, you can, -as we did- enjoy a break from seeing and admiring the vast collection of paintings: recharge yourself with a selection of coffee and/or through energy provided by a good selection of sweets or food from the cafe menu. Finding a place to seat is not an easy task, as Belvedere exhibition is mostly crowded, but in our case, that was luckily done in a minute's time. Service was good, staff was friendly and smiling. It didn't take long to order, and besides being in a cafe with all tables occupied, our coffees were presented to us almost right after our request. Our sweets arrived in a very short time afterwards Definitely recommended as an relaxing interval throughout a visit to the exhibition, no matter of some -more or less- waiting time to be seated. Tip: schedule the more time you can when visiting Belvedere: it will be rewarding! Paintings are really marvellous, a lot of references about them is quite interesting and the interior is really impressive

Good food. We ate the plate of the day, and the service was fast and efficient. The waiter was really rude because I said we were missing a fork for dessert and if he could bring a spare one. Because of the language barrier he thought I had lost or stolen a fork as he ask "Did you really said that?". It's not a problem if you don't get English, but don't make that my problem. At the end the member of the group that was going to pay didn't want to tip, so she skipped the tipping option. He turned back, and said it's normally 10% as he added 6€ to our check. The tipping it's not mandatory, because it's normal doesn't mean you earn it if we don't feel you deserve it. And don't do this thing where you add whatever you think you want to the check. Do a better and good service, and being FRIENDLY, is of course a big plus. After this episode the waiter was truly rude and even wished us a happy new year sarcastically. We hated this behaviour. The waiters reaction and the way he dealt with the situation was so horribly wrong. Do better and be friendly.

Worst service in my life!

⭐☆☆☆☆

I visited this place recently, and unfortunately, my experience left much to be desired. While the coffee was decent, the customer service was shockingly poor presented by THE BOLD MAN WAITER!

The waiter who served me was incredibly rude. They seemed annoyed when I asked a simple question about the menu and responded with a dismissive tone. Throughout my visit, I felt unwelcome, as though I was inconveniencing them just by being there. When we wanted to pay we went to the bar and get asked for payment when a bartender said, that payment just with the waiter. While we were witing for him (he saw us, looked at us), we saw the cakes, and decided to stay and grab a cake since it was my Mom's 65th birthday. So we went back to the table and sat down. When he came I told, we changed our mind and would like to order a cake, when he said, Okay, just don't leave without paying! ( He looked at us, we were waiting him to pay! How he dare to ask a cutomer to dont leave without payment, when we did not left!!!) I answered, that we were waiting at the bar, and he said it is table service. - I was working in a restaurant in several countires, and the table service doesn't mean that the payment has to happen at the table!!!

When we finished the cake, what was good but not expectional, we asked him to pay. He came with the machine and said we can support the team with tips. We could choose on the machine amount if we want to add tips. I didn´t want to give tip since, his attitude was not welcoming at all, and the assumpiton of leaving without payment..... He gave back the machine and said: Don't you want to support the team? I was like: No, I don't want to do that now. He said, it is usually 10% and give back the machine again, then I said again: No, I don't want to do that now. (It felt so passive agressive and pushy already) Then he did the payment, looked at me with a smile and said this in an incerdibly sarcastic way: "This is really nice from you, and I hope you gonna have a really nice day!

I got so upset that I left write away, but I turned back 3 time,s to tell him, that how rude is this, and how he ruined our mood on my Mom´s birthday, and that the tip is for a grreat service!!!!. This guy ruined the day what I organized for my Mom, the day when she get to the senior age. He didn´t let us to enjoy a coffee and a cake after our visit in the museum, se we left really upset. He faded the beautiful painting, and our amazing experience in the museum with his behaviour.

Tipping is something I do willingly when I receive good service, but this approach felt pushy and unprofessional. It made the entire experience feel transactional and uncomfortable. Instead of enjoying my coffee and relaxing, I felt pressured and hurried to leave.

Good service should inspire a tip naturally, not demand one aggressively. This behavior is off-putting and reflects poorly on the establishment. Unless the management addresses this, I’m not sure I’ll be back anytime soon, and I do not recommend this place to anyone. More then that, I will that this story for that many people and write that many bad reviews as I can!

The atmosphere of the café could have been enjoyable, but the negative interaction completely overshadowed it. It’s a shame because this place has potential, but good customer service is a key part of a pleasant dining experience, and this was severely lacking.

I won’t be returning, and I wouldn’t recommend this spot to anyone unless they improve their attitude toward customers. A smile and a bit of kindness go a long way! Outside of Belvedere in 5 minutes walking distance several coffe places and restaurants. It...

The cafe is really badly run, the waiter was incredible rude. He was so rude to everyone he served. One person asked for the fork an knife he has forgotten to bring, he scoffed at the person and cursed as he turned away. When we ordered our drink we gave him coins at which point he stared at us for a solid 30 seconds just to say " is this a tip"? ...we said we were paying the 4.30 for the drink we wanted to order ( not served yet)we explained we couldn't be tipping before we had been served. The waiter turned away without a world and didn't bring us the drink until 30 mi after.. He was being rude to almost everyone who dared to ask for anything at all...I wonder if the owner of this place has any interest in making money or if the waiter is actually a public servant... He might as well be a bouncer..definitely not a waiter !

EDIT: to the cafe owner who is kindly answering the reviews. Could you please do something about your Staff instead of just apologising?. Unless you are hiring family members there is no reason for you to keep rude people in your payroll. I have read all the reviews that customers have left below and there is not 1, but a huge number of them that have given you accurate descriptions of the individuals/ waiters ( im not sure they can be called that ) who are rude. These people are better off unemployed.

Belvedere Castle it is a prestigious landmark in Vienna, why tarnish the reputation of the place by proxy ?. Instead of apologising in the reviews, make it a real apology and do something about it. I for one, will be contacting the museum/ castle management to complain about this.

Vienna is one of my favourite cities in the world, Belvedere, one of the most amazing museums I have ever visited. Places like your cafe belong to some other location in...
